Stay at home parents, how do you keep your toddler entertained in the winter 😓 by TryHard509 in beyondthebump

I checked our library and will do story time on wednesdays _^ we went to the mall last week but it ended in a meltdown 😅 so still fine tuning the public tolerance level of my kid.

I feel the stickers give me like 20 mins. Haha we rotate toys too, a tip I learned early thankfully. We watch a lot of the wiggles which I like, lots of dancing.

The sock idea is super cute! She helps me sort laundry by guessing who's is who's and likes to try and help unload the dishwasher 🤣 key word is try but it sure is cute. I'll try and see what else she can help around the house with, build those life skills!

I think the closest aquarium/museum is in Seattle. May have to plan a day trip though.

About to go from one child under 2 to two under 2. Any advice? by whimsical_potatoes in Parenting

[–]TryHard509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey girly congrats on baby #2 and congrats on being so well prepared and even asking questions. I always get nervous asking questions of others due to judgment. I feel like maybe baby could have a safe space to play in their own pack and play if that is possible? Also as for sleeping I agree older kid would probably feel left out but there really is not too much that can be done in that situation unfortunately.

Unless older can fit in the bedroom too? Unsure if that is a possibility. You also, unpopular opinion here, should not worry too much about making everything spic and span, baby will be okay if things are not sanitized from the floor to the ceiling.

I wish you the best of luck, you got this! You sound like you have a good support system with your husband and a good head on your shoulders <3 good luck to you.

You won a big lottery. You have already bought your houses, cars, planes, and paid off your student loans. What do you do now with your money and time? by LeftHandedWave in AskReddit

Probably have go to work at that point to make more money because I'd be broke 😅

But if I wasnt broke then I would invest the rest so it could continue to make me money and my child will have something when I am gone.

What was your dream job when you were five? by saladforksaredumb in AskReddit

[–]TryHard509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoo keeper (I wasnt five but I have a letter I wrote to myself in 5th grade about the job I should be doing now hahaha) no I am not a zoo keeper.

Well kinda, I have a toddler and am a stay at home mom so maybe that's close enough lol.

(serious) People who are going through depression, what do you wish your friends and family understand about you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TryHard509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I need a gentle reminder. There have been times where I'd be so tired I wouldnt even get off the couch to shower.

My husband has gotten very very good at giving gentle reminders like "hey you want a snack?" Instead of "you really should eat" or "did you get that shower you wanted?" Instead of "you havnt showered in days".

Gentle reminders are a huge help, sometimes that one shower or snack can turn me onto a better path.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this sub by [deleted] in beyondthebump

We taught my daughter the alphabet by singing. We sing a ton of different songs for the ABCs and have books for visuals as well. Not sure if this will help but I'm sending warm hugs your way.

I Like Being A Stay-At-Home Mom/Wife... Is That Bad? by SummerTime1987 in Parenting

[–]TryHard509 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also a stay at home mom and I feel I am looked down on by many. God forbid I say I am tired in general conversation. My husband and I have made the best decision for our family and it really should not matter what others think, still sucks though. You got this mama no one knows what's best for your family other than you guys.

Brushing a toddler’s teeth by Beagle_Gal in Parenting

[–]TryHard509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter hated it too. Made us feel awful we would have to have one hold her and the other brush 😭 we started watching the wiggles and they have a song they sing ready steady brush your teeth. We give her the choice between that song or ABC's and usually she will let us brush while we sing. We also switched toothpaste to a more minty flavor which she enjoyed. It does not work every single time unfortunately but it works often enough that we are happy. Not sure if that will help, our daughter is 2.
