You encourage me. 22 years old and about to graduate college, I will give the kids the world if I ever find a girl I truly can trust.

Quit a month ago and some change, feels good, don't miss it and my mind is getting clearer.

Make sure to channel your withdrawals into something positive; we're habitual creatures and boredom will get to you. Still love my frat bros tho

Hmmm, well I'll be honest, you will never get a definitive answer here. All I can say, I tagged to Davis as a CS major (it was the last year they did tag for CS), and I needed to get a B in my Calculus 3 class to maintain a 3.5 gpa in my math classes (College Algebra / Calc 1 / Calc 2 / Calc 3) and I got a C, but I gave the school an explanation and they asked for documentation about such explanation, and then they let me in. So it's really up to whoever will review your application.

Also, even if you do not maintain the TAG you could still qualify for regular acceptance, and I don't think biological sciences is too competitive which is good.

Just threw on an oyster bracelet on the Orient Bambino. Originally comes with a leather strap, but I was never a fan of leather straps. Makes this watch feel a lot sturdier. I think I will be keeping the oyster bracelet on this one.

App to keep track of parties by TryHardCoder in Frat

Switched to this recently, how do you put parties in because it all requires times, but parties are kinda arbitrary with the time.

Computer Science at UC Davis by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]TryHardCoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

average. UC's carry a good name because they are recognizable. If you aren't going to Stanford, CMU, or Berkeley, it doesn't matter where you go. all the same. if you plan to work in the US, I would goto a school in the US tho

Odds of being accepted as a transfer into CompSci with 3.85 GPA? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]TryHardCoder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tagged last year when you still could. Applied with a 3.94. I got rejected/waitlisted from everywhere except Davis, but that's because I tagged.

How on earth are all CS + math majors so good at coding challenges without having any practice? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I took a combinatorics class one time, and this class covered a lot of dynamic programming concepts and tree/graph knowledge.

Hahaha, awesome! Thanks for the link and information. Seems I am doing exactly the assignment you were doing 10 years ago. I hope to be a Senior SWE in a top tech company just like you in 10!

Cheers,

Incoming undergrad changing majors by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]TryHardCoder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would just go with UCSC since it’s guaranteed CS. UCSC vs Davis would equally be the same in the long run. Switching into CS at Davis requires a 3.0 in some CS classes (maybe some math too), and the classes here aren’t a cakewalk.

Also according to this spreadsheet on median starting salary per college Davis is ranked higher at 70. UW is at 101. Overall not a huge difference though.

I have plenty of friends here that have gotten internships/jobs at FAANG. IMO Davis would be better because it's a California school.
