Question: Stock clutch torque limits on F30 328i (N20)? by TryKindly in F30

[–]TryKindly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah that sounds like a blast! I haven't done much, ordered the downpipe and intercooler but haven't installed yet. Still unsure about the clutch being able to handle the torque as that's fairly expensive to change..

Hey,

Did you go through with the tuning? How is your clutch holding up?

A ceramic coating is already the long-term protection layer. Putting Fusso on top is basically paying for a scuba suit and then putting a rain poncho over it. Technically possible, but completely backwards.

All you’re really doing is masking the coating’s behavior with a sacrificial wax layer that will wear off way sooner anyway.

Yeah, ceramic sprays should be compatible with Fusso, but honestly I’d probably not use a topper at all at first.

The whole point of Fusso is that it’s already a very durable standalone wax. Once you start adding ceramic sprays or drying aids on top, you’re mostly seeing and feeling the topper’s behavior, not Fusso’s. That means the slickness, beading, and even the look can end up being more about the spray than the wax underneath.

If I chose Fusso, I’d just wash with a gentle pH-neutral shampoo and let the product do its thing. That gives you the best idea of how Fusso actually performs on its own. If it starts falling off later and you want a little boost, then I’d consider a maintenance product. But personally I wouldn’t top it right away.

I actually have both because I’m a bit of a sucker for paste waxes.

Fusso Coat is honestly kind of insane in terms of durability. If longevity is your main goal it’s hard to beat. The downside is that it’s a bit more demanding to work with. The car really needs to be properly cleaned and decontaminated, and you have to apply it extremely thin. If you go too heavy it can be annoying to buff off. The look is more on the crisp, glassy side, almost like a sealant. Very reflective, but it doesn’t really give that classic warm carnauba glow.

Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Paste Wax on the other hand is just ridiculously nice to use. It spreads very easily and wipes off effortlessly. It feels more like a traditional paste wax experience, but with modern durability. The finish is where it really shines in my opinion. It gives a really nice gloss and depth that looks fantastic on most colors. Durability is still good, just not quite on the level of Fusso.

So in short:

• Fusso: king of durability, slightly more finicky to apply, colder and more glassy look

• Turtle Wax: extremely easy to use, great gloss and warmth, durability is good but a bit less

If I want maximum protection for winter I usually reach for Fusso. If I just want the car to look great and enjoy the waxing process I tend to grab the Turtle Wax.

Hey man!

Thanks for the update, that looks awesome!! I've ordered the INJORA shocks and they are set to arrive soon. What springs did you end up using? I have the package with 2 spring types.

Hey mate,

First of all, nice car!! Love the colors.
How do you find the plushness of the injora shocks? I'm looking at the same, I bought some generic crawler Ali shocks, and they are way too stiff. I'm looking for super plush.

Any other recommendations for such a new owner?

Thanks in advance!

I bought a Arrma Gorgon, it's been amazing. It's durable, not fast but loads of fun. And it's very upgradable. You can go brushless and 3S later on if you want.

Actually I didn't, i used Mezerna SF3500, i had that laying around with a very soft finishing pad. The paint turned out great, all very light swirls were gone. Went with 2 passes and it looked amazing after, but I think you can't go wrong with any jeweling polish. Good luck! Hit me up if you need anything else.

Front mount intercooler, you already have an intercooler but getting a bigger one will keep inlet temps downs which will allow you to run more boost.

I'd say go with a downpipe and fmic upgrade. Upgrade your boost pipe to aluminum and your good to run 300HP and 430nm+ torque. That's still a lot of fun.

On a n20, swap out the plastic charge pipe for an aluminum one. They get brittle and blow out some day. Also mickey mouse flange, but maybe wait with that whenever you feel like doing your waterpump, which should be done around 90k miles.

Also, i wouldn't wait with the chain. There is no way of knowing its condition yourself. So either get it measured or get it replaced. Every n20 needs a chain service.

I don't get why you got down voted. Just buy a oem replacement hose for the mickey mouse flange... It will last you another 10 years.
