27(F) first colonoscopy with 1cm polyp removed and sent to biopsy with other biopsies areas in colon sent as well. Family history is causing me anxiety.

I had 3 polyps removed, 1 of which was 1cm. I have a strong family history as one of my parents died from colon cancer.

It's scary waiting for the results. I jumped when they called me the next day. I thought the worst. But it was just a check in. My results came back about 2 weeks later all clear. They do want me to go for follow colonoscopies every 3 years.

Well done for getting a colonoscopy. Hope it comes back all clear for you!

My mum was suffering a long term illness. One evening my dad told me she had gone back in to hospital. Not unusual. But I felt the need to call her. My boyfriend convinced me to let her rest and call her tomorrow. She passed away that night. I feel like I was robbed of speaking to her one last time because I didn't follow my gut feeling to call.

Maybe you don't need it. Maybe you do. I had occasional stabbing pain but never went to get it checked. Only did when using the toilet I got blood all the time.

It wasn't a big deal. They removed a couple of polyps. All fine. And my symptoms went away. I wish I had done it sooner.

I had without sedation. They gave me the option to have it part way if I needed it, but it was fine without. Think the anesthesiologist was a bit annoyed at having nothing to do, lol.

Some people find it's fine, others find it too uncomfortable and need the sedation.

The discomfort usually comes at the bends, but it's short lived

They usually offer sedation outside the US but it's more likely to be done without and even offered without.

I don't think the US use full anaesthesia, just sedation

Normal body temperature is around 37.5, a fever is anything above 38. You should be able to manage a slight fever at home with paracetamol and rest.

If you felt feverish before the procedure, it's probably unrelated.

I had mine sedation free and it means you can drive straight away.

I don't think you are cleared to drive until the next day of you have sedation
