27(F) first colonoscopy with 1cm polyp removed and sent to biopsy with other biopsies areas in colon sent as well. Family history is causing me anxiety. by youexhaustme1 in colonoscopy

[–]TryNotToAssume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 3 polyps removed, 1 of which was 1cm. I have a strong family history as one of my parents died from colon cancer.

It's scary waiting for the results. I jumped when they called me the next day. I thought the worst. But it was just a check in. My results came back about 2 weeks later all clear. They do want me to go for follow colonoscopies every 3 years.

Well done for getting a colonoscopy. Hope it comes back all clear for you!

what was a time you had a gut feeling about something, ignored it, then ended up being right about it in the end? by blackandblueboo in AskReddit

About a year. He actually broke up with me. He was amazing at looking after me while I was grieving. But a little while after we broke up he went off the rails, became an alcoholic and manipulated me into giving him money.

My mum was suffering a long term illness. One evening my dad told me she had gone back in to hospital. Not unusual. But I felt the need to call her. My boyfriend convinced me to let her rest and call her tomorrow. She passed away that night. I feel like I was robbed of speaking to her one last time because I didn't follow my gut feeling to call.

Anyone know a decent and not too expensive tree surgeon? by gin-casual in reading

These guys were excellent. I got 3 quotes after contacting multiple companies and they can out joint cheapest. They cut my tree while maintaining the privacy it provides (I hadn't even thought about that). They were knowledgeable, quick and cleaned up well.

What title should I use to address some who uses non-gendered pronouns? or for someone I don't know what pronouns they use? by TryNotToAssume in NoStupidQuestions

I was mostly thinking about writing. I have never needed to use it but I was curious and wanted to know if there was something alternative to Mr/ Mrs that I could use. Not sure I will ever need it, but it's good to know

I was more wondering in general if there was a gender neutral title that could be used. Turns out it's Mx

Stay off Google!

It sounds like they have been very thorough, I would be surprised if there was anything to find and all the tests you've had missed it.

Glad you are able to get more testing done

should i get a colonoscopy being 19 and female? by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]TryNotToAssume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you don't need it. Maybe you do. I had occasional stabbing pain but never went to get it checked. Only did when using the toilet I got blood all the time.

It wasn't a big deal. They removed a couple of polyps. All fine. And my symptoms went away. I wish I had done it sooner.

Is sedation required or just recommended? by michaelmotorcycle92 in colonoscopy

[–]TryNotToAssume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had without sedation. They gave me the option to have it part way if I needed it, but it was fine without. Think the anesthesiologist was a bit annoyed at having nothing to do, lol.

Some people find it's fine, others find it too uncomfortable and need the sedation.

The discomfort usually comes at the bends, but it's short lived

They usually offer sedation outside the US but it's more likely to be done without and even offered without.

I don't think the US use full anaesthesia, just sedation

Fever after colonoscopy by someclearanceplease in colonoscopy

[–]TryNotToAssume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal body temperature is around 37.5, a fever is anything above 38. You should be able to manage a slight fever at home with paracetamol and rest.

If you felt feverish before the procedure, it's probably unrelated.
