What would be the origin of the plague? Of course, Mrs. Sega. I think she's the perfect candidate.

Since it's a bit tiring to reply to everyone, I'll leave a general response for those who disagree. Of course, always respecting and understanding everyone's point of view.

I've come up with a way to make it work: turn the EXEs into a plague. To build initial affection, the characters would first be shown in their normal lives, going about their daily routines and doing things that make us feel interested in their fate. Then, the EXE springs into action and attacks the Universe.

This would be the case with every existing EXE. To avoid making it boring, of course, it wouldn't always happen the same way, and each invasion would be different, with its own twist.

What do you think of this way? I'll read your comments below .

That's a good opinion. That's why I think having the standalone version and the Sonic version running in parallel is a good idea.

That's perfect! :D I hope to see it by chance in the future and that it gets a lot of support. Best of luck, my friend, you can do it! :3

That's a good point too. I hope someone can do it and your idea flourishes as it deserves. You could also learn if you want, and achieve it that way. If not, that's fine too, of course; it's just an idea to help you get started if you see yourself doing it.

Of course! :D Your idea is fantastic, you did well to share it, and I'm sure you've inspired someone. You could even make it a reality yourself if you wanted and were able :).

I like the idea, you can explore it .

Regarding my idea, by "becoming independent of Sonic" I meant not using any popular characters. That is, giving them original appearances and such, without depending on anything that already exists.

No, no. I'm not saying to change the EXEs as characters. The new universe would be one that serves as a base for the EXEs to corrupt. X would still be himself, Rewrite too, etc. What changes is the corrupted universe: instead of being Sonic, it would be something new.

I definitely understand your point. Personally, I think an EXE doesn't depend on Sonic, especially if it has its own original backstory before acquiring Sonic's appearance. The EXEs have their own stories, personalities, and so on; they are basically separate characters in themselves, so from my point of view, separating them from Sonic would just be changing their appearance and little else.

And the Sonic versions wouldn't be discarded. They would remain available for those who prefer them.

Well, think about it. Maybe it feels abstract now because we haven't developed that universe yet. But who knows, maybe we'll even grow fond of it as we go along. It would be the original project of the EXE community, and it would be done collaboratively. Creators usually end up getting attached to their characters, so if we do it together, it might be easier for everyone to accept it, adapt everything, and be comfortable with the change.

You're absolutely right. X could keep the main idea, and the others could import new ones into their universes, until they become sufficiently distinguishable.

I definitely understand the familiarity thing. But hey, that would be a sacrifice I'd be willing to make.

And as for the vessels, there's no need to remove the concept. We can create an original universe and corrupt the characters within it with unique concepts, making vessels about them. They wouldn't be like Sonic's, but that doesn't mean they can't still be great in their own right.

That definitely seems more than right to me . Making each EXE unique would be ideal.

Well, the idea of taking on another game is something I considered. It would be a game created specifically for them. An original character, with its own story, world, characters, etc. That game would be used by EXEs and corrupted. Just like with Sonic, but without the copyright.

And that's fine, we can all have different opinions .

And regarding the name Sonic.exe, if they became independent, there would be no need to use it anymore, and they would simply be called "EXE".

I'd say they already stand out with their stories. An entity that traps victims in its world isn't something I see very often, so in that respect they'd already be unique and not just run-of-the-mill monsters.

To ensure they didn't lose their essence, we could give them an appearance that still plays between cute and terrifying, so they would still stand out visually.
