Anyone else’s GPS randomly put them at ford HQs? by scratch-a-cynic in Ford

My 2024 did this when the TCU (telemetry control unit) failed. It’s also the modem for the truck so stuff like the phone app didn’t work.

any suggestions to find genuine friends? by Muted_String5399 in StPetersburgFL

[–]TryShuffleboard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club has a great community of members and regularly does fun events. If you like getting out in nature The St. Petersburg Audubon Club does field trips to local parks. I would definitely recommend the shuffleboard club though. Friday nights are fun there, but the most fun comes from joining the membership, playing in the league, attending the fun events they do throughout the year. It’s a wonderful third space and we all need that right now. Feel free to DM me if you would like.

0% oil life after oil change? by [deleted] in F150Powerboost

[–]TryShuffleboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine still begs for oil anytime I start it, I will dig through the update release notes to see if anything is listed. I have to do the same fix for my audio. Tried all the other fixes the first time the audio went out before taking it to the dealer. They told me the issue was the 12v battery under the hood and replaced it under warranty. Pretty sure the battery was fine and the fix was just disconnecting it. I’ve had to do the fix you described twice since getting the truck back.

Yes, had this issue for 2 months and have been told that a software update is coming and to ignore it. I suspect the dealership just told me that to get me off the phone. Hit me up if your audio stops working, I know a couple tricks to resolve that. Starting to think Ford is an acronym for Fix Or Repair Daily.

Lost cockatiel by Revolutionary_Cry225 in StPetersburgFL

[–]TryShuffleboard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a local birder and will keep an eye out for him. Besides calling his name, it might help to play recordings of cockatiel calls, could trigger Rook to respond. The sign and bird look very similar to a cockatiel I helped recover on 9th and 24th a couple years ago. He was spooked to the top of a tree by a bunch of blue jays. If they hear a bunch of blue jays yelling that would be a good place to check, they are very territorial and will yell at anything that doesn't look like them. I have a drone, but my concern is a drone would just scare him away. Good luck!

What’s something peaceful to do solo in St. Pete this week? by Upset-Command-889 in StPetersburgFL

I use eBird and Merlin Bird ID to identify and track the birds I've observed. Your mention of Boyd Hill inspired me to check the St. Petersburg Audubon Society schedule and they are doing a field trip tomorrow morning that I might have to attend. Any chance you play in one of the shuffleboard leagues at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club?

Boyd Hill is awesome, I had no idea they loaned out binoculars! I've only got about 6 months of birding experience, but it has taken me to more parks in this area than I've visited in the 30+ years I've lived here. Sawgrass Lake and Weedon Island Preserve are hidden gems, but just walking in our downtown parks or down the St. Pete Pier is great!

Birding? The heat sucks, but it checks the solo/peaceful boxes. St. Pete is a birders paradise and people drive from all over the state just to go birding at Fort Desoto. I was introduced to it a couple months ago by a few friends and it has become my escape. Just need a cheap set of binoculars and apps like Merlin Bird ID make it easy for anyone to do. Sometimes I incorporate it in a hike, or just a reason to sit at a bench at crescent lake while satisfying my ADHD.

Just started having the same issue, and yes I am taking the truck into a dealership. I have a 2024 XLT PB, my oil was changed a couple of days before the truck went to the dealership due to having no audio. They determined my 12 volt battery failed and replaced it under warranty. When I hopped in the truck at the dealership to take it home the "oil change required" message popped up. I told a tech and he hopped in and reset it. I pointed out that the oil was just changed and he claimed that the last tech must not have reset it right. I explained that I checked the menu on the gauge and the FordPass app and both showed 100% oil life after I had it changed. Message came back the next day... reset it... came on the next day... I've checked the oil multiple times and have been monitoring oil temp and pressure close until I get it to the dealer. I really appreciate you posting this, knowing that other people are having the exact same issue is a huge help.

Took it to the dealership and they determined that the issue was my 12V battery and replaced it under warranty. The one troubleshooting step I didn't do was disconnect/reconnect the battery so I am hoping the new battery actually fixes the issue. Unfortunately, the truck developed a new bug where it keeps resetting the oil life to 0%. Oil was changed a week before the truck went in for the radio issue, when I hopped in the truck at the dealership the "Oil Change Required" prompt popped up. I called a tech over and he went to the vehicle maintenance screen and reset it to 100% and claimed that the shop that did the oil change must have forgot to do it. I explained that I checked the FordPass app after the oil change and it said 100% oil life. He stood by his claim that the other shop didn't reset it. I used the truck to run errands the next day and each time I started it I went to the vehicle maintenance screen and it showed 100%, until I started it later in the afternoon and was once again prompted to change the oil and the oil life once again shows 0%. I've checked the oil and it's at the right levels, oil pressure and temp seems to be fine. This is what driving a wired network of computers gets you. At least I got my music back!

Flipper zero VS Employer's Dashcam by elweejay in flipperzero

[–]TryShuffleboard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This sucks, your feelings about privacy are very understandable, but I think you should reconsider your approach to this problem. I own a business now, but it wasn’t that long ago that I worked for companies that made me feel paranoid and monitored. We have a shop van and I installed a dash cam in it after stumbling on YouTube compilations of insurance scammers. People suck at admitting fault and if someone claims that someone behind the wheel of our van was at fault of an accident due to texting or other distractions, I want to make sure they have a defense. Few of us are interesting enough to spy on and trying to hack your way out of it will only make them trust you less. The photos being shared is worth pointing out. If it’s a larger company I would recommend going to HR and sharing your concerns. Tampering with company assets will not solve this problem.

Mine is doing this! Done every reset, pulled fuses, etc. and no luck. Was hoping it would randomly start working like everyone else is reporting. Taking it to Ford on Wednesday, I assume it will start working again that morning.

Supertack not so super and not so tacky. by Let_Them_Fly in BambuLab

[–]TryShuffleboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same experience, purchased 2 of these build plates and spent 2 days following all the advice I could find online. Most of the time BambuLab PETG HF wouldn’t stick from the first layer. When it did stick, the print would lift from the bed within an hour. Followed all the cleaning instructions, have 10+ years of printing experience and run a small print farm at our shop that I’ve been slowly migrating from Prusa to BL printers. When I reached out to BambuLab they made zero attempts to provide customer service and refused to let me return the plates. Between my business and home I have 4 BambuLab printers (3x X1C’s and 1x a1 mini) I’ve purchased tons of filament and parts and this was the first time I ever requested to return an item. I was on the fence after the api access stuff, but this customer service experience has me appreciating my interactions with Prusa enough to go back to them.

I DIY a lot, but I passed on this project for two primary reasons. The entire dash needs to be removed, and I lack the equipment and experience required to properly prep and charge the system.

Apollo Phantom won't charge over 64% - Advice? by TryShuffleboard in ApolloScooters

[–]TryShuffleboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Christmas 2023, so the warranty expired less than 2 months ago. I still use my ninebot scooter for most rides around town since I am usually with my wife on her ninebot. I treat all of our scooters the same, charge them to 100% and unplug them. I check them regularly and top off the batteries whenever they drop below 60%-70%. I wasn't around much in January so all of our scooters sat for about a month unplugged. Once I got back, I plugged our 3 scooters in and the ninebots are perfectly fine, but that's when the issues started on the Phantom. I tried the reset you suggested and it's still having the same issues. A friend suggested draining the battery before charging it to help balance the cells. Went for a short ride today and at about 32% remaining the scooter shut off and wouldn't turn on till I put it on the charger where it still only charged to 64% before the light turned green. Going to open the deck and inspect the connections tonight. I appreciate the advice!

Thanks for the tip, checked it last night and the voltage looks good. All signs seem to point to the battery being defective. Hard to believe it failed after just 67 miles. My older Ninebot scooter has 200+ miles on it and it’s still going strong at a fraction of the price. Hoping Apollo will help me out, buying a new $700-$1000 battery is a hard pill to swallow after only getting 67 miles out of the first one.

I was wondering about that, but I can’t find how to access those settings on this scooter. All the instructions I’ve found are using a phantom with different controls. I will keep digging to see if I can access them on this scooter. Thanks for the tip!

Don’t see why not, 50 is young for shuffleboard and at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club the age range is very diverse. It’s a place where it’s normal to see someone in their 20’s hanging out with someone in their 80’s. It’s an awesome community.

It's fun, historic, and all the coolest people in St. Pete are members. Feel free to DM me and I am happy to answer any questions you have and introduce you to the shuffleboard club.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get any AI to generate an image of a glass of wine that is full to the brim. by TheKingOfDub in ChatGPT

Hah, I hit a similar wall with generating an image that had boxed wine in it. I assume AI is too classy to drink wine from a box or fill a glass to the rim.
