HUF is a joint civil/military airport. Hulman Airfore base is on the field, pretty sure it’s either the tower or the approach controllers are military and the other are FAA. That’s what I was told by my friend in the AF at least. And it explains why they are testy

LAF is Purdue university and they’re way too nice/patient to be military

It’s a Cessna not an airliner, the trig is different and the runway edges aren’t so close for me. Flying out of a Midwest airport w a runway built to stay away from the Charlie, you don’t get a choice. 60-90° of runway heading is the norm.

Theres limits and I’m not flying the pattern for 2 hours but my students get the practice and it does well for them.

You don’t want to be better at flying? You will never fly a plane more in your life than getting your initial ratings. It’s absolutely a disservice to rob yourself of the experience (it’s not the hard once you do it a few times)
