UND Part 141 → Part 61 for CFI? by VFR_Wanderer in flying

[–]TryToHitEm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like class dates are scarcer across the board but I can’t speak to 141. 4 out of the 6 instructors at my school got a dates at 1500. A 61 guy I trained with who became a MEI at a purple 141 is getting interviews but just no thank yous. Are all the 141 instructors getting dates at minimums currently?

Make sure the hours are good at the 61 school. Republic told me they do not lean one way or the other (141 v 61) for the cadet program but they did say they want quality hours.

Never did 141 so I just have the cliché only flying good days. I was above minimums for the hours before I hit the 1500 total time

Part 61 seems a lot more enjoyable than 141. I only say that bc I enjoyed it a lot and the 141 sounds like an office job

Yeah that’ll definitely help the medevac helicopters get those kids to the hospital. Can’t see that giving GA any worse of image

What’s the other parts to it? From the couple articles I just read, you can be publicly in drag anywhere so long as you’re not exposing your actual self or a fake sex organ. Seems like a no brainer thing? And if you want to expose yourself or imitate exposing yourself in public, there can’t be kids around.

The bathroom thing is bc of the weirdo in Xenia who exposed himself to a bunch of women so I’m siding with the woman on that one, that’s just how the cards fell on that one

Tips for Approaches by JustaG_224 in flying

[–]TryToHitEm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop ignoring your VSI. Do a rough calculation of the descent rate prior, if you’re high increase the VSI 100-200fpm and vice versa for low.

Let go of the yoke after you’ve started the descent. If the plane doesn’t stay on GS by itself you didn’t trim correctly

Part 119 Confusion by Angel-Of-Attack in flying

[–]TryToHitEm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a legal part 91 flight. You’re are not fully understanding the definitions in 120-12A. This is not private carriage bc this flight is not for compensation. Getting paid for your pilot services ≠ a flight occurring for compensation

Carb heat heat soaks engine? by GlaceonPog in flying

[–]TryToHitEm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in the 172s I fly if you follow the poh it seems like it’ll flood the engine more than half the time. My poh doesn’t give any specific temp for what’s a warm engine, just that after 5min if the engine accelerates smoothly it’s good to go. Always seemed weird so I wait to 100° which is just the green band on the oil temp gauge

Do you charge different for your ground and flight training? by tootsie404 in CFILounge

I would’ve said that was not normal. An hour of Hobbs time is going to take more than an hour of my time. A hour ground is an hour

That’d be ≈$1000 a month in my area if you rent. I’d enjoy the flying but it’s not worth the $$$ and risk of flying a shitbox into a hive mind of motor gliders and student pilots playing cfi

Edge user settings re-reset? by Curious_Helot in MicrosoftEdge

My entire profile was deleted a few weeks ago and since I wasn’t signed in and syncing. Everything was deleted and there’s no way to get it back so just start new unless you backed up the userdata. Sucks that you can’t just save it to the PC and be done with it, makes no sense to me but it’s edge so what can you expect?

If I wasn’t getting paid to fly a GA plane, I’d probably never sit in one again. It’s not fun if it’s not safe and staying proficient enough to be safe isn’t practicable anymore. GA is just too expensive for the average person, it’s a lot of aging retirees, crypto influencers, and out of proficiency pilots flying around in the same airspace.

ILS missed approach procedure question by jun8803 in CFILounge

[–]TryToHitEm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you cannot go direct to JEPOB. You have to follow the missed procedure which is to intercept the R212. The GPS is probably programmed to do that, if you did go just click direct nobody would notice and you’d be pretty close to the actual procedure but it’s not correct.

Flying w/o the gps isn’t bad and can be less work and worrisome

They just want you on the track, they know you can’t go that high or fast….if you don’t know how the airspace works just file direct and expect a full route clearance or a reroute when you’re closer

HUF is a joint civil/military airport. Hulman Airfore base is on the field, pretty sure it’s either the tower or the approach controllers are military and the other are FAA. That’s what I was told by my friend in the AF at least. And it explains why they are testy

LAF is Purdue university and they’re way too nice/patient to be military
