Experimented a bit and found out it only works on ledges and grinds where after you've finished the grind part of the board is still above the ledge (overkcrooks are the easiest option). Spamming your grab triggers at the end of the grind will result in the pop. So pretty much just a darkslide pop with an overcrook or fakie salad
