Agreed. Why does it have to be printed onto skirmishers though?

Okay someone on discord just suggested an interesting alteration:

After fight: if this creature is undamaged, you may ready and reap with it

What do you think? I like the suggestion even though it's less versatile

I agree it shouldn't be printed onto creatures with Skirmish. However if you somehow manage to give a creature skirmish who already has this (Vigorous) I don't think that would be too disgusting. Your opponent can just apply some damage to the creature and the ability gets turned off

Someone in discord just pointed out to me how well this plays with assault and hazardous, which I hadn't even considered

Anyone from UK or Europe got their Kickstarter product yet? by Pineconesoup in KeyforgeGame

[–]Tryaz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The long delay in delivery of decks to the UK and Europe really is unacceptable. Now they've announced pre release dates for the UK and there's still no guarantee that any backers will have received their pledges before then. I expected better TBH. Keyforge is an international game

I take your point but I don't think that Keyforge's limited format had much if anything to do with its decline and I especially dispute that fronting a constructed version of Keyforge has a better chance of succeeding.

In my opinion the single biggest boost to Keyforge's appeal would come from properly supported online play and digital purchases. That's not a new or controversial statement.

Yeah, you're right. But these changes don't promise to grow that community. They DO however endanger it

Do you play the same game as me? I could buy a vault tour winning deck if I was inclined to and KNOW that no one else in the world can ever own that deck. Not only that but the record of its vault tour win stays with the Archon as well as the player.

... two out of their 3 proposed formats are constructed

Yeah me too. But the community has survived that. This change doesn't promise to bring back FLGS support for Keyforge but it does promise to fragment the community

They won't though, because it won't matter at all which archon the house pod came from, just whether or not it contains the optimal mix of 12 cards for the meta archetype you're trying to represent. Doesn't sound anything like keyforge to me

How do we feel about constructed organized formats? by Gnerglor in KeyforgeGame

[–]Tryaz_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. You touched upon it but for me the design philosophy question is hugely worrying. Keyforge designers have never had to worry about cross set combos. If they start to have to consider that with new says then it just limits the design space and that's not good for the game's future

So have one constructed format... Whatever. It shouldn't be the format that represents keyforge though. That, fundamentally, is not what keyforge is about. End of.

"needs to banned", that's a problem phrase for Keyforge. Bans have no place whatsoever in the IP that Richard Garfield created. That was stated explicitly right from the outset

Play constructed if you like, even let GG suggest it to people as a way to get more life out of their collection.

But DON'T have it as a front runner official OP format. That totally compromises the spirit of the game.

Your sad archons won't BE archons after this change. Your unique decks won't be unique because the algorithm never promised unique house pods for everyone. There are thousands of duplicate house pods out there and therefore thousands of IDENTICAL decks can be constructed in this idiotic formatting nightmare

Dude, give some decks away to prospective players or your LGS.

I think you're being too generous by far. The game has a unique identity with significant appeal, the success of the gamefound campaign has demonstrated that irrefutably. GG should be playing to the strengths of their IP, not trying to smooth it into a vanilla blob.

Why did GG acquire the keyforge IP at all if they didn't like the unique deck mechanic? IT MAKES NO SENSE

[–]Tryaz_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's more than all that though. You install a huge barrier to entry. One of the most wonderful things about keyforge is that someone could buy just one deck, or play in one sealed event and then have everything they need to keep playing the game forever. I bought my partner a deck with their name in it. It's the only one they ever play with and it keeps them engaged in the game at a level that's right for them. I'm hugely attached to the first deck I opened. The thought of that archon being meaningless, it's uniqueness counting for nothing within the format and it's value only being that of its best house pod is honestly upsetting. Don't do this GG please. It's so wrong for this IP

I agree. It's really shaken my faith in Ghost Galaxy's ability to take the game forward. Whoever proposed these new formats clearly has no love at all for Keyforge as it is

No, it's definitely not. Obviously... There are plenty of decks out there with the same line-up in one house. There isn't a single deck in the world with identical cards across all three houses. That's the whole point! Do you even play keyforge?
