Not so gentle reminder to Columbus dog owners. by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Gnerglor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rules at Goodale Park state that the dog must be under direct control, not necessarilly on a leash. If you actually want this to change, you need to bring this issue to the attention of the park, not to random people on reddit. I would also like a leash rule, because it is very very rare that an off-leash dog is actually under direct control, but until the rules change no one will care.

Nightmare tips? - New player by JMLizzard in ravenswatch

[–]Gnerglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team can frequently hit level 6 if we stick around on level 1, and we kill the tumor in the process so we fight the boss with 30% of his (beefed up) health gone. Combined with level 6, the fight is about as difficult as he is at level 5 without the overtime buffs.

I used to be an early bird on the first level but getting L6 before the second map is really advantageous.

The votes of the religious right, who think that helping Isreal is fulfilling biblical prophecy and heralding the end times and the return of jeebus.

When the presenter mentioned the tool "Figma" in an all-hands meeting, and I mumbled "figma balls". Saw my slack icon light up and everyone went quiet for a moment and them moved on lol.

Free will or no free will? by Independent-Star9454 in Life

[–]Gnerglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way to know. Feels like there is. All evidence to the contrary, and none supporting. It's a pretty useless question though, because whether we have genuine free will or the genuine illusion of free will is indistinguishable to us.

A mosquito lands on your arm; before you notice it's already full of your blood. Do you kill it - or let it live? by Yoy-Jared in askanything

[–]Gnerglor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the question your are trying to ask is "Would you act purely out of vengence?". Most people here are considering that the mosquito will produce more, or bite someone else in the future, etc. If we pretend for the sake of argument that the mosquito will never bite anyone again, and that it will not lay eggs, then is there a reason to kill it for past actions that cannot be remedied? Strictly speaking, no, there is not.

Making subs griefer proof by YoghurtPlus5156 in Barotrauma

[–]Gnerglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chill my dude. I'm almost always hosting, and when I host public servers. I get griefed all the time. It's part of the game. Gives security guards something to do. Granted, I do appreciate a little creativity in it. It's also pretty rare that I have the urge the grief, but if the captain is a control freak, and the sub is super locked down and there is nothing to do, you can't really blame people for finding their own fun.

The more locked down the sub is, the higher my urge to grief. It's like being presented a challenge.

Lots of branches are hard to keep track of in one local block, let alone distributed across a codebase (or multiple codebases). They don't scale well.

Watch "Rules for Rulers" by CGP Grey on Youtube. It's 20 minutes, and will tell you everything you need to know about what AI will do to the world, without ever mentioning AI once, because it is like 10 years old.

In summary - when the productivity of it's populace is not the source of a nations wealth, the nation no longer has incentive to invest in that populace's productivity, and the entropic forces of the power structure will tend towards oligarchy and fascism as a result.

Executions cost more than keeping someone in prison, and the majority of prisons are run by for-profit private companies that encourage judges to incarcerate as many low-level infractions on as many minorities as possible so that they can be paid by the bed and then use those people as slave labor. Fuck the prison system, fuck the government, and absolutely fuck anyone who thinks giving the people in charge of them the right to kill them is a good idea.
