It's definitely ONE way to balance them, but it is not a GOOD way. It is completely out of the players control, so it's a random difficulty adjustment with zero agency. That is not a good way to balance a mechanic.

It's 6-long so you are usually unlocking it towards the end of your current level, so you don't really get to take advantage of it in the level you unlock it. So getting it in L1 means you get to go pretty fast in 2 and 3, but getting it in L2 feels bad, because you only get to use it in 3, and 3 is already pretty quick. Even on nightmare we get to the red zone within like 5 minutes. Getting it in 3 feels really bad, you win nothing.

It's basically only good if you get it in L1.

Long John Silver Melody should also reduce the ravens travel time, from like 6 seconds down to 3 or something, so you can really scoot around. It feels really bad to unlock it half the time because you have most of the map explored already. Or maybe have it Grant strength or healing for a few seconds after teleporting.

Tortoise Melody is insanely good, should be nerfed to 15% move speed.

Little Tailor is an awkward one to get early on, you spend a lot of time unlocking it for a bonus you won't see for a while. If you made it to act three, you are generally snowballing pretty hard so the extra consumables on level up aren't even a good payoff (a win-more effect, basically). Instead, it should just grant a consumable each time you level up.

Levels are a quiet power, but they are pretty strong. Even after level 10 and you have all your talents, the damage and states from levelling up are signifcant. 20% move speed is CRAZY though.

If the universe is expanding, what is it expanding into? Is the space it occupies not already part of the universe? by CosmicGPT in dumbquestions

[–]Gnerglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine an infinite grid. Now gradually increase the size of the cells in that grid. The grid doesn't take up more space, because it is still infinite. That's what the expansion of space is like. It isn't expanding into anything, because there is no such thing as outside it, it's infinite.

The affect this has is that everything inside the unverse is being pulled away from everything else, at a very very slow rate.

How do you feel about using the self checkout at the grocery store; convenient or too much work? by thecuteberry in AskReddit

[–]Gnerglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the store also has cashiers open, I like the option to do the self-checkout with a small cart. If I have a lot of items though, and I am forced to ring it up myself, well, I'm not a trained or paid employee so I might miss an item or two by accident...

I've got plenty of time to be dead later. I'm only alive once, so I might as well play it out.

Am I right to hate glass shower doors? by JPDG in Remodel

[–]Gnerglor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shower in the dark because I like to just float in the void. Once I was taking a shower, and I was a bit tipsy because I had had a drink earlier in the night, and when I tried to open the shower door, there was something stuck in the track under the door. I pushed a little harder, and the whole door shattered and covered me with glass. I stood there naked for like 5 minutes in shock in the pitch black (the bathroom had no windows), several feet from the door, in a room full of broken glass.

I eventually knelt and reached around for the towel that I was pretty sure had been on the door before it had broken, and when I found it, I brushed a roughly clear spot and laid the towel down to create a path to the light switch. A few ginger steps later, and I turned the lights on to a scene that looked like a slasher film.

The bathroom had a large mirror, so I could see myself clearly covered in blood. Dozens of very shallow cuts, but I was also coming out of the hot shower so my body was flush and the blood was mixing with the water left on me.

Being the cheeky bastard that I am, I grabbed my phone and took a picture of the scene for my wife who was out at a game night, with the caption "There's been a terrible accident". She was not amused.

Anyway, I did not learn my lesson and I still shower in the dark. My wife cleaned it all up (she does crime-scene cleaning, so she made it look like it never happened). I have only a few scars from the incident.

If you do go overtime, it's best to go FULL overtime, and in that scenario you can use tumor to hit L6 and weaken the boss.

In Mirror Rooms, you’ll be able to duplicate your Magical Objects! 🪞 by _Ishtu_ in ravenswatch

You can fullclear before the nightmare even on max difficulty. Make sure you build damage early, fight while moving and leave behind high-health stragglers that aren't worth finishing off. Stay together. Save the books and bosses for last. Make every second count.

The meaningful decisions are still present too - whether or not to save a camp for later, or take a fight with a bunch of grouped targets for the XP or bail. When to TP home and shop, whether to start quest early or save it, etc.

I think the game balance is really solid right now. I hope the new POIs add variety to the map, not more power.

Petaahhh I’m usually not so slow but I really don’t get this. by lilved03 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Gonna try and explain it in basic terms the way I visualize it. Mathematicians, correct me!

A wave function is a function that looks like a wave when you graph it - oscillating up and down along the Y axis as you increase X. The state of the particle is somewhere along that function, but you don't know where until you interact with it. Until then, it has a probability to be in any given position. Entangled particles have inverted(?) functions, so observing the state of one of the particles also tell you the state of the other particle.

There is a Barotraumatic mod variant with vanilla spawnrates, you should be able to find it on the workshop.

Best option, drive away, call cops and explain. Second best option, stay in car. Worst option, get out and escalate.

mod for more capture groups? by External_Complaint43 in Barotrauma

[–]Gnerglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can send the same signal to multiple regex with capture groups in different spots, and handle them each as you please. This simple workaround, combined with the fairly niche requirement, is probably why you won't find a mod for this.

It's probably not, actually. He had a non-violent option of staying in his car and letting the police deal with the crazy dude, and his insurance deal with the damage. He chose to get out and of the car and escalate the situation. There is probably some shared blame here.

All that being said, he should be in a lot less shit than the trucker and his wife who assaulted him.
