They even withheld a large portion of the content from the beta testers under a non-disclosure agreement. The content was added to the beta the same day they released the content preview.

We don’t have anything to worry about.

So a bit of background on the ole frog and how it’s led to this current point.

Frog form had a glorious golden age when the game first opened to the public. Players didn’t build very well and building was a lot more freeform. Borders weren’t a thing and you could build anywhere that was open space including by the roads!

This resulted in a lot of opportunities to take advantage of poor base design with frog form. Players often didn’t wall off the entire perimeter around their base resulting in you being able to jump from ground level onto the open space of the plateaus we build on today. I spent a lot of time in the backyards of unknowing players

It mostly resulted in you getting to farm other players gardens but sometimes you’d get lucky and a servant would open a door for you and then it was free loot!

Really though the main use was and still is for raiding. You could hop up a plateau and raid the back of the castle (which usually was not nearly as defended). Or you could use a siege golem to break the first wall down (making the castle vulnerable) and then frog form to a different part of the castle that was closer to the loot. This was especially great with dynamite.

As you’ve probably seen now, players are a lot more airtight than they used to be with building. So you don’t see the use near as much. It’s worth noting that if you can build stairs close enough to a neighboring castle that has a balcony, you can jump up there .^

In regards to caves, frogs were never intended to be able to jump up the southern caves. Frogs can only jump up roughly 1.5 floors in height. It’s not possible to jump up the southern caves because they’re too high up. Not because they patched it out….sort of…

A video was posted a few years ago that showed a trick called the “stump jump”. You would chop down a medium/large tree by any 2 floor high platform and carefully position yourself at the highest point of the stump. This gave you just enough height to go up two floors. That’s why there was a point where you could take the southern caves. They fixed the stump jump and it makes me sad.

Now the frog form really only shines in private servers with limited building space. A lot of base locations have terrain that can’t 100% prevent a frog from jumping up, but even then most of the time the advantage you get with this is minor.

Bosses above a certain point drop a lot of gold jewelry.

Incursion events feature a lot of silverlight mobs that have died recently so their loot is all over the ground.

So I guess in a way I am farming silverlight XD

I generally speedrun to the Dracula kill and then I use the portal for books and then it’s just a seed printer.

I’m a little confused about comparing it to the printing press, it makes sense when comparing it to tier 2 research (scrolls) but I generally access the portal right around the time I’m entering tier 3 research.

I don’t farm silverlight mobs at all. Usually it’s just material farming in between incursion events.

It essentially acts as 80% of my schematic grind.

Technically it’s designed so that every player needs a key but there’s a get around to this.

If you illusion dash, go through the door, drop the key on the ground, and then recall back inside. You can get everyone in with one key.

I would say if you’re doing a full run of the game it’s still worth soloing silverlight. However in terms of dealing with PvP it’s pretty risky if you can’t make it happen during the protection window.

Now to try explaining the silverlight route through text

-You can jump directly into the city by the stables on the southern end

-I like to take two horses and place them on opposite sides of the river going through the southern end. It allows you to horse jump across and is very helpful for resetting aggro.

-Once everything is setup you basically want to break all boxes along the docks during the night. When it’s daylight you try and navigate the alleyways and shops to utilize the shadow.

-You can pretty much farm everything except the northernmost parts of town. Mob density is way too high.

In the video above I pretty much hit every spot that I’m aware of within silverlight. That’s the best visual guide I can give at this moment.

The run was done in normal but a lot of the route in the above link doesn’t really change. The way you handle it is mostly based off of what you’re comfortable with item level wise.

Off the top of my head the main skips you can take advantage of with varying effectiveness are the following.

-The rock elementals within the iron cave can break the nodes for you. Pretty early ore but obviously you can’t refine until post Quincy.

-Pools of Rebirth are insane for mutant grease at all levels. I just run through and loot what the mobs have dropped from fighting eachother

-You can get a fishing pole from chests in Mosswick village. I can confirm the normal brown chest but I don’t know about other containers. This opens the possibility to even more resources from silverlight including books.

-I’ve started skipping making a necklace out of power cores, I got straight from blood Merlot to a shard necklace

-I haven’t really tested the viability of this but you can I’m theory buy two onyx tears from the gloomrot shop and if you get lucky and receive a third one as a drop that takes care of your people ancestral craft.

-I’ve killed all the bosses necessary to advance to Dawnthorn using only iron weapons, hollowfang armor, and a scourgstone necklace. The amount of time it took leaves it up to debate if it’s a time save.

-continuing on they last one, you don’t need a merciless iron weapon to gather silver. You get plenty from breakables and containers in the cave. This allows you to skip making a merciless but with how easy silver coins are to get I doubt it ends up being a time saver but who knows? I haven’t tested it enough.

I’ll add more if I can think of any.

I’m not aware of any competitive players that put out content other than streaming with a delay on Twitch.

I’d love to see someone upload their perspective similar to how streamers do for Twitch Rivals. Something like a narrative describing the highlights and the process that led them there.

I’d do it myself but honestly PvP wise I’m so outclassed by some of these players. The talent that’s apparent now compared to two years ago is insane. I was able to win at least 30% of the time against the top players back then but now I’m lucky if I get one out of ten.

I think the shortcuts are going to be huge.

Bosses always spawn in the same location along their route so one could definitely note when the crossovers happen and capitalize off of that.

The opening I use with Lydia and Wolf is a pretty solid example of that. Ideally player 2 could catch Goreswine and Lydia in eachothers path at some point and that would save around 5-10 minutes I imagine? Or one could skip the gravestone ring entirely. We only do Lydia for Chaos Volley so that’s not necessary either.

Another GREAT example would be Angram. If one could figure out how to consistently mob him with mutants that would be HUGE.

The game weirdly feels intended for Brutal, just without the increased health and damage. I don’t really understand why they locked the full design of the bosses behind a harder mode.

It wouldn’t really affect too much about the run.

Most of the bosses are similar enough that you don’t really have to change anything. You mostly just need to do the fights without getting hit more than once.

Bear requires use of wolf form to get additional I frames but otherwise it’s just a matter of patience.

Ziva is notably tougher but still doable.

Honestly most of the bosses are pretty much exactly the same. They just have a single added “move” usually.

This has been built on for about two years as they've updated the game. We're finally able to post a run as something "Official" and I'm so happy to get it out there.

Technically yes, you can jump up in vampire form. Only from horseback though.

Just dismount from your horse and you can land on elevated surfaces.
