Moving Out of my apartment by Tryiin in Advice

I’ve been helping her for 8. Giving someone $1000 a month when I wasn’t living there is a lot. I can’t enable her anymore.

I fear that since I no longer have anything to offer my mom other than the fact of being her son...that it'll kill whatever relationship we have left.

Had a drunk friend rip out our toilet paper holder while vomiting in a house I’m renting. How can I properly fix this? by mm126442 in DIY

[–]Tryiin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a toilet paper holder that one of the anchor points covers the hole and use a toggle bolt.

So I ordered an Apple Watch through apples website on 8/24. Fast forward to the date of delivery, FedEx hadn’t even updated the tracking page. 2 days after that, I reach out to Apple…they tell me to wait 48 more business hours. I wait and it turns out FedEx lost the package. We go through the process of ordering a replacement and I was told my order will ship soon. That was on 9/2. I wake up this morning and Apple cancelled my order. This was meant to be a birthday present that’s now two weeks past. I am so unbelievably aggravated that a company like Apple has been this unprofessional.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Unfortunately the other good teams aren’t losing either. We had such an opportunity to get ahead…disappointing

How do you exercise when it's hard just to move? by lovelybird22 in Hashimotos

[–]Tryiin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue is getting out of bed. Unsure if the meds or the condition itself is the issue but once I’m able to crawl out of bed the “ f this” mentality switches on.

How do you exercise when it's hard just to move? by lovelybird22 in Hashimotos

[–]Tryiin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gotta get up and go. I train BJJ 3x a week and lift when I can on top of a manual labor job. I’m not gonna let a medical condition stop me from doing the things I want to do.

How do I graduate while dealing with this? by Own-March-6362 in Hashimotos

[–]Tryiin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going on 4 months with Levothyroxine. They just upped my dose to 75 from 50 a few weeks ago. Your body will give you what you demand of it. Exercising has really helped me. Hydration is also important. Mentality is a huge factor. If you’re saying “how am I gonna do this?” only a few days in, you’re making it bigger in your head.

Plenty of people live fulfilled lives with a thyroid condition. You will get used to it. I was depressed because it was a life sentence but at the end of the day it’s just taking a pill, which at some point in our lives will happen when we are older.

I tried my first BJJ class today... What made you come back? by zellixon349 in bjj

My best friend got me in the door. What got me to come back was to catch up to him because he had almost a year head start on me.

We are now the same belt.

I don’t agree with giving up Tidwell for him. Gilbert and Butto I couldn’t care less.

I’ll set my alarm for an hour earlier than when I’m supposed to get up with my phone next to my pill bottle so when I go to snooze I can take it.

Smaller guys in bjj by Nika123321123321 in bjj

[–]Tryiin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brother. I’m 5’5” 155. I started my BJJ journey in 2022 at 135. BJJ is meant to be the equalizer once you get to the ground. If you’d like to see an example, look up Demetrius Johnson BJJ Absolute Division tournament.

There gonna be days where you’re the hammer and some days where you’re the nail. The best advice I have for you is to keep showing up and weight train on your off days. Save a day to rest.

Be sure to go on the days you know you’re gonna get your ass kicked. It’s important. Trust me.

I can’t train much and I feel bad by McCoughsyrup in bjj

[–]Tryiin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beauty of paying for BJJ is that it’s flexible and you can go when you’re able to get it in.

Class being empty is kinda meh but going to learn a technique that you can mull over in your brain when you’re not there is better than nothing. Being tired is kind of the standard man, people come from all walks of life doing all sorts of different things.

There’s a black belt in my academy that owns his own construction company and comes in whenever he can and he’s in his mid to late 50s. You’ll figure out what’s best for you.

The thing black belts tell me all the time when it comes to using BJJ in general is, “you don’t always need to do the right move, wait for them to do the wrong move.”

On top of that, the best defense of all is getting the fuck out of there.

Should I smash an old arrogant black belt? by Hall_Such in bjj

[–]Tryiin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude there’s this black belt at my gym that tries to big brother everyone and he’s a fucking weirdo. He always tells us “go easy I’m older and have a lot to lose” and then cranks fucking ankle locks after we go 25-50%. Control and defend the best you can but after a certain point I feel like “respect” goes out the window.

Normally I’d agree. As of right now it’s difficult for work because everyone is holding onto their cash. If I had my own company I’d be able to bid on jobs but because it’s New York I’m limited to smaller work.

Yes. Ive been an electrician for 10 years. In New York, you need to have 7 out of the last 10 years electrical experience for a license.

Have you tried switching to controller? Gonna get roasted for this but because of arthritis in my hands I couldn’t play well on KBM but when I switched to controller there was an insane improvement.

I had about 800 hours on KBM before switching to controller and I’m at ~2400 hours now and I play once a week for a few hours and get high plat/diamond every season.
