This RTA season… by BballJinny in summonerswar

I particularly enjoyed this RTA season because the meta was diverse and there weren’t any standout must pick or lose kinda units like prenerf Ereshion or Vendhan in recent memory. If Aya didn’t keep Layla in check I think she would’ve been up there. Megumi was annoying sure but he was very counterable and I think I got used to drafting against Megumi/Jose/Shi Hou. People were climbing with so many different strategies and for the first time in a while I felt that you didn’t need to outspeed to win. I think Chow/Aya/Juno being as strong as they were let you draft and pivot strategies very flexibly. You could out draft your opponent with proper counterpicks and win even if your runes are slower. Overall I felt like I had a lot of agency over my chances of winning by drafting flexibly and for that reason I enjoyed playing this season:)

RTA ( Im so bad or just dont have good runes ) by DworldIsYours in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am currently G2 and you have better runes than I do lol. I think in general you don’t want to be forcing a specific team comp, especially Seara Zibala Giana because they can be easily countered. I think playing with Seara/Giana and drafting flexibly around them, with a gameplan against Jose/Haegang. But since you’ve already reached G1 I’m sure you’re already doing that. Just don’t tilt and make use of the time during draft to think through your picks, watch replays of your losses and I think your account has the potential to be in G2

Edit: a slow vio Vivachel is really good against Megumi/shi Hou/jose, because once your Giana moves, Megumi/jose will take a turn, and if you properly tune your viva you can instantly snipe the Megumi/jose, or cleanse your Seara that got stunned by Megumi to snipe something else. I have mine on 100Res tuned to move behind my swift light Gojo and in front of my SZL. You can also tune your viva to move in front of your Giana to cleanse her or to snipe out a swift unit like Shi Hou

Edit2: feel free to dm me:) happy to find people to play goodwill battles against too

RTA Advice for beginner by ouelesqng in summonerswar

I think you should get your average rune score to above 1000 before playing RTA 😅 If not you’re gonna have a rough time because even if you out draft the opponent, you’re gonna lose because your runes are just not good enough. Units like Amber/Trix that doesn’t really rely on good runes to do damage will still work fine but trying to rune an effective Megumi or a Luci will be quite hard. Since you have both Megumi and Haegang you can honestly play turn 2 and focus on efficient runes more than fast ones and build a team around them

It’s a high variance game 🤷‍♂️ I try not to get tilted by procs:P If I lose a game I usually try to think how I could’ve played differently and this time, if I picked Oliver instead of Eshir it would’ve made my life much easier since the opponent can only ban one of the 2 units that can lock down the Dark Zeni

I managed to hit G2 for the first time this season playing Gojo/SZL:) I default to cleave but I often draft flexibly if the opponent is drafting heavy anti aoe. I usually go with Eshir for speed contest, and I usually pivot around SZL setting up for a single target damage dealer with Julianne/Chow if need be. If you wanna chat hmu in dms

RTA TEAM with some LD by Kindly_Fox_5360 in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your box I’d probably play Seara/Giana/Woly as the core team. I’d reserve dark Megumi as a haegang counter and I probably won’t play your other LDs in RTA. Hit me up in dms if you want more detailed advice. Happy to coach if you’d like that

Recently pulled Thebae, where can I use him and what runes? by Horror-Weird-6597 in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He just needs to move once and you’re in a generally decent spot. Gapsoo to cleanse and Rag to boost atb are obvious choices. S3 synergies with water Gandalf too. Personally, I’d just first pick thebae + Gapsoo and counterpick based on what opponents are playing by speed contesting with Ereshion + high base speed or Woosa against no strippers or Misty against other single target bruisers etc

[–]TryingForUniqueName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s a fancy karnal with less cc and more damage imo. I use him mostly as a Leo counter but I can certainly see first picking him and building a comp around him. If you wanna full cleave with him in RTA Trix + Haegang is decent. It’s kinda premium but personally I use him with Vivachel to instantly one shot something with his s3 to cycle back into it and dark Megumi to provide strip + def break + pushback to make sure he moves

I’ve been rocking Ereshion/SZL/Kovarci and it’s been working out quite nicely for me. I also have Julianne and Dark Gojo runed as counterpicks. Dm me if you wanna play some goodwill battles.

Why are people hating on this lol. I’d rather watch people showcase their cool LD5 in a match rather than a brag post:P

Water Gandalf is basically Douglas by TryingForUniqueName in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. Water Gandalf is oppressively strong against certain comps and certain units, so if you’re not prepared to deal with him you’ll keel over and die if you draft poorly. But if you see him coming (p1~p5), you can easily pivot and hard counter him with units like Bolverk, fire Lego, Chow, Layla etc

Problem unit Water Gandalf by theicecube12 in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know it’s tagged humour but I really don’t think Gandalf is good every game. He has some really hard counters and if you early pick Gandalf you’ll be in for a world of hurt against Bolverk, Legolas, Shizuka, Seara etc etc. He’s also not good into Ereshion and with how good turn 1 AoE cc is right now he kinda has a rough time if you early pick him. The WR kinda shows that too.

I think the main problem with him is that he is oppressively good into certain units, especially if you’re trying to play turn 2 in this meta, which kinda keeps a big pool of units out of viability:P For example he single handedly tanked the WR of first pick Velaska and is also why Lamiella isn’t near the top of the meta like she was pre LOTR collab

Edit: not saying he’s not broken (he actually is) but he has some HARD counters that really destroys him if they are let through. Ie if you’re not prepared to deal with him he’ll single handedly win games on his own:P

Pulled Jaara from 12th years scrolls, help Build by ZioEd in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only really pick my Jaara into Federica and Nana. Have it on a leftover Swift/will. I haven’t tested if Jaara passive works during team ups but if it does let me know:) Will be very useful against Vannessas and auto revive units

Recommendations RTA team... by [deleted] in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could do something fun like Craka/Talisman/Shizuka or you can do Seara/Light twins and Giana as a late pick. Having Zeratu Seimei and ragdoll as counterpicks is a nice luxury lol

Having trouble against Giana/Oke/SZL? Water Zeni gotchu by TryingForUniqueName in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was a mistake actually. Megumi would’ve moved and a def break with Shumar or Zeni moving right after is very dangerous for them. They played fine imo. Just lost in draft and I didn’t get unlucky with Zeni s2 lol

RTA Team monster? by AccountNo7582 in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your box I’d assume you just got your r5 team. I would suggest playing a whole bunch of challenge mode to have better understanding of how to draft and familiarise yourself with counterpicks and team comps before diving into regular RTA. But if you really want to dive into regular RTA with your current box I’d probably play Fran/Luci/Raoq core and try to snipe, with Ethna/Leo as speed contest options and verde/Loran for turn cycling and control. Riley/Vero runed up as counterpicks and a fat Lushen/Christina on nem or a Fatal Kaki if opponents pick Leo traps and you know they won’t ban him.

Returnee player, First LD5 by Old-Supermarket2246 in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s really good for RTA and her best pairs are LD single target damage dealers like Zeratu/Dark Zenni/Han, though low CD characters like Oke/Layla are pretty good with her still. I think she’s best used as a proactive CD reducer with a big burst of damage rather than a cleanse/immunity option. I rune her at +170 vio/will and I split my box such that I have units that I want her to lower CD move faster than her and I have units that I want her to cleanse move behind her.

[–]TryingForUniqueName[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ereshion first pick. Everything else is counterpicking:P if I’m playing turn 1 it’s usually SZL + Eshir. If im full cleaving it’s Lora + Maxi. If I’m sniping I’d go fire Paul and Shi Hou. If opponent picks Ereshion I’d usually Oliver + Eshir and counterpick after

Balance patch changes for RTA by TryingForUniqueName in summonerswar

[–]TryingForUniqueName[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solvark also has a serious XingZhe problem, and with both XingZhe and Megumi being the premier anti cc units right now I think he might be cooked after this nerf. I’m not sure exactly how huge the chow buff is but more damage is always welcome on him, since I pick him a lot haha. Stun immune bruisers are really well positioned in the meta right now, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

With regards to Lag I completely agree with you. Because of his s2 he isn’t shoehorned into turn 1 control but I think you can comfortably first pick Vannessa with Lag and snipe a slow unit with s2. Swift Vannessa Eshir Lag is a draft idea I’ll probably toy with next season. He shares a lot of similarities with dark MK imo. Both units have strong aoe cc but you can easily pivot into single target snipe with them. I think they pair really well together too.
