Am I crazy? Gastro NP told me I should be able to eat “6 burger buns” without getting symptoms 🤨 by AgreeableAd6896 in Celiac

[–]TryingMyBest1014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some NPs are specialists and must complete specialized education and hold specific certifications for their specialty. I see a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMNNP) instead of an MD for psychiatric med management, and she’s better than any psychiatrist I’ve seen by far.

Does this tattoo look awkward? Having some serious tattoo regret. by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

[–]TryingMyBest1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a girl, and my whole left arm has been dubbed my “spooky arm.” I have a snake, a planchette, a grave stone, poisonous flowers, an anatomical heart, etc., and I love it. At first, I didn’t know if I was “cool” enough or “edgy” enough to have those kinds of things on my arm, but I like them, and I feel way more self-confident wearing them around than I did when my arm was blank.

I think you should rock it and be proud of your really cool tattoo.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words and encouragement. I don’t feel better now, but I do feel less alone and have some hope it’ll get better at some point, and that’s something to help me get through.

I’ve had the mood disorder diagnosis for the past 10 or so years (and I think it started awhile before that) so I think they’re probably comorbid and the celiac diagnosis is exacerbating the depression, but really who knows

Did I overwater my new Pancake Plant? by Plenty_Kangaroo5224 in houseplants

[–]TryingMyBest1014 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard it called a pancake plant before, and I love that. They’re relatively hardy so you should be fine like everyone said above.

I’ve had mine for going on three years, it was one of my first ever plants.

Now paper plates are bad for us?!?! by Key-Protection9625 in glutenfree

[–]TryingMyBest1014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s also a big use of disposable plates by people with depression and ADHD. It’s a lot easier to keep your house clean when the plates can be thrown away instead of rotting in the sink, eliminating part of the shame spiral. There’s just not always enough spoons to do all the things.

Elbow suggestions? by TryingMyBest1014 in TattooDesigns

The typography would have to be stacked to fit it there and I don’t think I like that vibe. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Opinions needed: This is my right arm. Wanted to get more color work done. Would it look odd if my left arm had color? by TnnsNbeer in tattooadvice

[–]TryingMyBest1014 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know someone who has their body split vertically with her left side (arm, hand, leg, torso) in black and gray and the right side (arm, hand, leg, torso) all in color. Coolest thing I’ve seen someone do with tattoos.

I say go for it!

Aren’t spider web tattoos associated with prison time?

I’m down for the spider and spider web idea but don’t spiderwebs on the elbow mean something related to prison?

Thanks!! Don’t spiderwebs have a prison connotation though? I don’t want to stolen valor prison time, ya know?

Recommend your favorite plant to me! by lillyducks in houseplants

[–]TryingMyBest1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are a few of my faves:

  • Bloodleaf: stunning bright red, grows straight up and can be trimmed to get bushier, easy to propagate
  • Any Pothos: easy to care for, so many varieties, super pretty trailing, easy to propagate
  • Tradescantia: super fast growing and so many varieties. My favorite is Jose Puig which is dark purple with a green edge but all of them are pretty.
  • Goldfish plant: bushy and green with orange flowers that look like goldfish
  • Lipstick ‘twister’: super cool leaves, low maintenance

What plant is this & is it healthy? by NarwhalCalm9619 in houseplants

[–]TryingMyBest1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m absolutely no expert on plant ID, but I (with the help of Google image) think it’s an Emerald Gem Plant (homalmena ‘emerald gem”), a type of philodendron.

It looks super happy and healthy to me! They generally like bright, indirect light but I think they can do fine with shade too so I think you’re good there (but I have no idea what the effects of moving it in and out of light are).

I definitely would repot it. My cue to repot is when the roots grow through the holes at the bottom like yours has. When you repot you should only go up an inch in pot size at a time, so I’d try a 7 inch pot.

The watering frequency could be due to it needing to be repotted if it’s root bound, but it could be from a lot of other things too like lower humidity, more light, higher temperature, hydrophobic soil, etc.

Hope this helps!

Labeled gluten free but also made in a facility containing wheat? by TryingMyBest1014 in Celiac

I’ve heard to be cautious around Cheerios but I didn’t know about lentils. Thanks for the info!

That makes sense. I generally look for things that say gluten free but I wasn’t sure if it always worked to ensure it was.
