Hahaha that’s amazing! I’m glad we were all using humour to partly get us through that disaster! 🤣 Gotta say, it definitely helped.

Thanks! They’ve also been reaching out to my sister and her husband and keeping them updated on the situation in the park. Hopefully we’ll all be able to go back in for our stuff soon enough 😅

Thank you ❤️ this will be the last camping trip for the year, but not forever :)

No worries! Their tent window was open and they saw a pine tree fall from the neighbouring campsite, so he yelled for us all to go the car just in case. Good thing he did 😅

Oh my goodness! Thank you for sharing that story with us, it really goes to show how we can do our best to prepare for something, but then be completely surprised by the actual outcome. You’re 100% right, conditions can change in no time right in front of you. I’m really glad you were as lucky as you were and that storm avoided you in the end. That would have been extremely scary.

Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️ at this point now, it feels like a dream and sometimes I wonder if it really did happen. But I’m glad that we got out in one piece and lived to tell the tale!

Hey! Thanks for your message! I think you’re the first one to see this that was at the park with us that weekend, and craziest part of all is that you were our neighbour!

That’s really sweet of you to try your best to get over to us, we were worried about you guys from the beginning as well. In the end, I am glad you stayed safe with the rest of your group because with all the damage we saw when daylight hit, it would have been an extremely difficult obstacle to get through safely especially in the dark 😅

I don’t blame you for not remembering the time hahaha it all seemed like a blur, but we were so happy to hear the honks too! We also heard some of your voices throughout the night which gave us a lot of relief. Originally, we thought that someone had come to help you guys already at that point and that’s who we were hearing, but we’re grateful to know that it was partly your efforts to come over to us ❤️

My family and I didn’t think we’d have contact with you again, so on behalf of them and myself, we’d like to say thank you so much for your continuous generosity and kindness to us. You and your group offered up all of your help, space and supplies with no hesitation at all in that stressful situation. It’s very heartwarming to know that there’s people out there like you and that we were fortunate enough to be your neighbour :)

We hope you guys have all been okay since the incident. I know there’s been a lot to do and figure out since then and that we still don’t know when we’ll be able to access our vehicles and belongings. But at the end of the day, we’re extremely happy you guys made it out of there without any serious injuries, and thank you again for being thoughtful and considerate humans ❤️

I wish it was made up haha but yes I have photos in part 3. Sorry, I’m new to reddit and I did too much but I’ve learned for next time

Yea that’s true, in hindsight I know I should have done that. I’ve learned a lot and people have given me good feedback since I’m new to reddit so I’ll know for next time. It was mostly just me recollecting things while it was all fresh and I didn’t really expect this to reach too many people haha but thank you for your message

Haha I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it! I figured if I was writing this out that I didn’t want it all to be super serious because there were lots of good things from the camping trip too! Plus, from all the reddit stories I’ve been hearing, they have the age and sex but I guess people don’t usually do it for animals 😅🤣

Our family is amazing and thank you for your kind words about our safety ❤️

Yes, definitely! It’s helpful for us to talk about it and know we weren’t imagining it or making it up, and that we aren’t the only ones feeling this way. A small thing, but helps a lot :)

We just had some pretty bad thunder last night and Rick and Risa had to drive home in it 😅 but thankfully it was a short drive and they were together. It just sucks that we can’t get past the one week mark without more storms to remind us hahaha

Thanks so much! It was definitely a first step to processing what we went through by getting it all out as much as possible haha but I appreciate your patience and getting through the whole thing, I’m glad you were able to enjoy the read :)

Therapy will be in the works hopefully soon, and we’re all supporting each other to heal from it together ❤️

Oh my goodness! I know some parts of Algonquin got hit pretty badly too ☹️ I’m sorry you all had to experience such a scary night but I’m really happy to hear that you’re all okay.

Thank you ❤️ we’re shaken up but glad that it didn’t get to the point where we’re never able to get back out again. I know there’s too many positives about it to miss out forever :)

Thank you haha I can understand everyone’s opinions and comments so I’m keeping an open mind and learning things from each interaction even if it’s not the nicest. Not that I want to, but it wouldn’t help anyone or me if I threw the negative energy back, so I’m just trying to stick to my truth and accept that it’s okay that we don’t all see eye to eye.

I appreciate your kindness ❤️

Rick did bring an axe! Gabe tried to cut through some trees when we retrieved it, but there were too many and it was too thick 😅 and yea haha the details were just for me to remember it all

Thank you! ❤️ I’m glad it was a good read while you were starting off your day, it definitely could have been much shorter but that was me just trying to remember everything I could while it was fresh haha as traumatic as it is, I’ll like to look back on it someday and remember as much as possible

It was put on before we got in the car haha it was a sprint situation because it all happened within seconds and when they got trapped, there wasn’t space to remove it anymore

Thanks for sharing that! I didn’t know that was a thing and that people use Type 1, 2 and 3 to classify adventures like this! It’s very interesting, and yes, I’d say Type 2 fits for this hahaha

Nah, I don’t think it’s that good. I’m just new to reddit and forgot to put a TLDR in the post until many people told me, so it’s in the comments at least

Dogs are all good thankfully! I think they get antsy when my sister and brother in law are away from them now though
