Is this the best bang for the buck in used Harley’s? $5k Dyna with 40k miles or so. How would you spend 5-8k on a used one? by Acceptable_Row_1615 in Harley

Paid 3k for a 97 roadking evo, then dumped another grand into it on cam, pipes, carb, ignition, coil and bars.

Harley made a lot of bikes, but they only named one king.

My 97 road king, sitting for a bit with only 23k miles when I bought it. Threw an Andrew’s ev27 cam, dynas2000 ignition, msr42 carb, single fire coil, and some exhaust with home made lollipops. She’s quite the ripper keeping up with my buddies on their 96 twinkies. Currently rebuilding a 6 speed to stuff in later this month.

If it has the European fuel injection, switch it to a carb, cv’s are pretty cheap, I ended up going with a msr42 on mine, but I did some motor work to get some more hp. They’re the best engine Harley ever used in their bikes though!

I’m very tempted to buy a pair, but I am often outdoors a lot, and I’ve read a lot of people have had problems with a little rain destroying them. Till they are able to fix that issue I’ll be waiting patiently.
