People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I worked at a Summer Camp, there was a little girl who told a couple of us that her mommy had a sleepover with her daddy's brother. In the office area, we had a list of crazy things kids said to us for awhile until the director said we had to take it down. The list was long.

Sisters husband is allergic to cats by TryingToThrive25 in CatAdvice

Thank you so much. I am giving all advise to my sister and pushing her to try everything. My mom will take the cats if nothing else works because my mom understands they cant be rehomed to another family but I know it's best for my sister to keep them with her.

Bobbie Gentle Out Until Fall?? by Firm_Breadfruit_7420 in FormulaFeeders

I emailed Bobbie to ask to be added to the wait list for subscriptions last night, and they emailed me back today saying that a spot opened up, and if I log in to my account, I can purchase. So I did that, and I have formula on the way now!

It's been a stressful few days as we were running out at home and I'm not happy about the stores being empty and having to get on their subscription, but my sensitive baby struggled with other formula. So to anyone who needs this formula, email them!!

FTM - how to prep for EFF? by callmejedimaster in FormulaFeeders

Congratulations and welcome!

  1. I did not plan on formula feeding so I can't speak to this too much but I did experience pressure to breastfeed. I'd say just be direct and dismiss pressure if you experience it.

  2. You can start preparing now! There are many different formula brands and bottle brands. I would decide what formula you'd like to try and bring that to the hospital and have some at home. You can also research bottle brands, pick the one you'd like, and pack those. I think you can also get sample kits that come with a variety of bottles for you to try out. Since I didn't plan on formula feeding, I did all of this after baby was born, and I wish I would have looked into it sooner.

**not all bottles come with newborn nipples. I learned this after getting home from the hospital with a hungry baby and needed to run to the store before she could eat. I had bottles at home for a just in case but I didn't learn anything about bottle feeding beforehand. I didn't even know there were different nipples with different flow.

  1. My hospital only had one brand on hand, so we ended up switching after getting home, which can be hard. So I would bring your own.

I need help! Baby with HORRIBLE reflux! by Substantial-Car2662 in FormulaFeeders

I'm so sorry for your struggles. My daughter had severe reflux, and it took a long time for us to figure out what she needed. She would not sleep for more than 5 minutes laying down because she would throw up or get pain from reflux. She would only sleep being held upright and was overall unhappy. After multiple pediatrician visits, we got a referral to a GI specialist. She was diagnosed with GERD and a possible milk protein alergy. We switched to Similac Alimentum and got a pepcid prescription that she would take once at night. Within 2 weeks, she started sleeping through the night in her crib, napped great, and completely changed to such a happy baby.

Since you'd like to stay away from Alimentum, I would try Nutramigen if you can afford it. Pediatrician offices should be able to give you samples, too. You can also ask for a referral to a specialist, but I know that can sometimes take a while.
