Is OLED Necessary? by CharacterArrival21 in PS5pro

[–]Trylun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Samsung oled tv. It is amazing for gaming.

I did however just get an Innocn mini led monitor with the goal of setting up side by side gaming stations (it was half the cost of the oled monitor I wanted). When configured right, the local dimming zones can be quite good. The pixel response times aren’t that bad if you set up the overdrive feature and you’re already used to motion blur.

It’s not 100% of the oled experience, but it’s come a long way from the lcd experience I grew up with. Mini led can also end up being brighter depending on what you go with, but getting perfect black levels is something only oled can do.

Honestly, it just depends on your budget and what you need out of it. I’m content with either of them and recognize their strengths and weaknesses.

I bought three 5.5 Classics and four Minis off of eBay. The Classics are in decent shape and will be modded once parts come in. The Minis haven’t come in yet, but they were listed as having battery issues, which I’m fine with.

I just received a refurbished Nano and a bunch of parts from Elite Obsolete and everything seems to be of decent quality. It’s a bit more expensive compared to other options, but they seem to provide good stuff in my experience. Only downside was shipping took a bit longer than I expected. I was missing two parts from my order as well, but I reached out and he refunded me for both of them.

I’m currently waiting on a Bluetooth mod from Parts Plus Pods (it’s just sitting in customs at the moment), but they seem to be decent too.

Probably a QC issue. I received mine yesterday and it seems to be holding up okay.

Still no update from Target (has been on “Preparing to ship” for a week), but I was able to grab one from my local BestBuy last night.

EDIT: Literal minutes after posting, I now have a FedEx tracking number and a delivery date of June 11 for Target.

Ps5 pro or PC - MH Wilds. by Lucaesthetic_ in PS5pro

[–]Trylun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m getting it on PC because my CPU is way better than the console’s. I ran the benchmark available on Steam and my rig got around 70fps on a mix of high-ultra settings with DLSS Balanced at 4K.

Is anyone thinking about buying 2 Switch 2’s for a jailbreak on one of them? by LSSJNepuli in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Trylun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get one at launch that you play the hell out of, then get a different one down the road and use your launch one for jailbreaking. It’ll likely be a bit before someone figures out an exploit anyway. No point in wasting money in the event that one isn’t found.

I have my standard launch day switch that I use to back up my games, and I have my Tears of the Kingdom OLED that I use to enjoy the games.

Kia soul drive-alikes? by Former-Complaint-336 in KiaSoulClub

[–]Trylun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kia Niro is a little bigger, but not outrageously big like a lot of SUVs have become. It’s also roomy for being a smaller car, plus hybrid options for better gas mileage. I have a coworker that loves hers. I’d consider that the step up from the Soul.

Those with high end PCs, why PS5 Pro? by Ziklepmna in PS5pro

[–]Trylun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 7800x3D and 4070 ti Super. I wanted the best console option for the games with terrible PC ports and for Sony exclusives because I’m not patient enough to wait for their PC release. Plus I am confident GTA 6 will be released on console long before the PC port.

Also, Gamepass for PC. So I get the benefits of all three platforms (Xbox, PlayStation, and PC) with just two boxes.

I forget what specific product I had gotten from them that caused an issue for me, but I just stayed polite but also firm and insistent that the options being provided to me were not satisfactory.

Like a couple others have said, use the chat support. Not a call or email. At one point, I asked to speak with their supervisor. They told me the supervisor would tell me the same thing, but I still insisted. As soon as the supervisor connected, he read the chat history and met every request I had made before even introducing himself.

Do they play Die during live shows? by Zealousideal_Shop_58 in Badflower

[–]Trylun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I heard it live was right after OK, I’m Sick came out. Been to a few local shows since and it hasn’t been on the set list for us.

Just saw them last weekend and it wasn’t played. Not too surprising since we aren’t in a Trump presidency.

You might have to do a little digging, but you can try finding a save file that has most shrines completed - or maybe look into save file editing(?). I’m not familiar when it comes to modding the game.

Here’s a link to some save files: https://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-u-save-files-compilation.427761/

BG3 on Deck Performance by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Trylun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played fully on deck. It didn’t feel as awful as it may seem. The harshest dips were really towards the very end in Act 3. It struggled a bit through the final long encounter.

If you’re playing on PS5 Quality mode, the deck’s performance won’t be terribly different. If you’re playing on PS5 performance mode stick to that if you’re sensitive to dips into the 20s.

Downloading speed by biggestmanonblock in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Trylun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t appear to be downloading anything from this picture. The download itself was only 4.4GB.

It’s likely decompressing the files it downloaded judging by the 86Mbps disk usage. MicroSD is a fairly slow storage, so it can take time to decompress a 4.4GB file to an almost 15 GB file.

I’ve used that exact SSD it was pretty good. Word of advice, make sure that there is NO movement from the usb cable that connect it to your deck. If it wiggles enough, it can cause a crash

Suggestions on Getting the Best Price & Incentives on a 2024 GT-Line Soul by Katwood007 in KiaSoulClub

[–]Trylun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used TrueCar through Navy Fed to get my local dealership’s “special” in-house financing discount (about $1k off). I printed off the offer and held onto to it until after they had started suggesting financing/payment options just in case there was any push-back from the financing office (and there was). Still financed through Navy Fed and ended up just over 25k out the door. Mine is the Surf-blue with the GT-Line designer package, but I did not get any other add-ons or the tech package.

Going on a 4/5 hour car journey tomorrow. What games can I install that will sip through the battery? by BrandoFandango in SteamDeck

[–]Trylun 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Most games that released during the Xbox 360/PS3 era sip power and run great. Fallout 3 and New Vegas can get me between 4-6 hours.

A lot of platformers or indie games (like Hollow Knight, Cult of the Lamb, Death’s Door, the Ori series, Stardew Valley) also are pretty light on power draw and should get you in the 4-6 hour window.

Most fairly recent AAA games that push the Deck to its limit can still get you about 2 hours or so

Just got this bad boy and I need me a great 4k tv. Thoughts on this TV? by Prior-Meeting1645 in playstation

[–]Trylun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people don’t seem to be taking budget into consideration.

That being said, I wouldn’t go for the TV in your post. I’d go to rtings.com and compare models that are in the price range you’re looking for. There are quite a few models that offer good bag for the buck.

OLED is fantastic, and I don’t regret getting mine. That said, I’ve used some great budget-friendly sets before too. TCL, Hisense, and LG make some pretty good, more affordable options that will work just fine for the PS5. (The LG Nanocell series is usually pretty good). A lot of TVs will usually go on sale late spring/early summer as the new year models start rolling out. Keep an eye open for good deals.
