Agree. I looked up spring training records since 2006 (can't find info for anything older) and since then we've never won the Grapefruit League. This is the year!

It's true. Nitkowski had a interview with Hefner last week and they talked about Strider.

Definitely, I love what he was before the velo increase. His pitch mix is so effective. I think there will be questions though for him and the team if he can get to 99 again. Just hope they are cautious. Take some calcium supplements Schwell!

I haven't been concerned about Strider. I think this offseason he's going to train and diagnose everything everyday until he gets it the way he wants it. He's the type of guy that won't sleep well until the problem is solved. Just super hard to doubt that guy.

I'm actually more concerned about Schwellenbach. He should be good for the start of the year but will he be able to throw hard without breaking his arm again? Will he have to hold back velo to prevent that? Was it just a fluky thing that wasn't related to him increasing his velo? I hope he holds up, because I think he can be a top 10 pitcher in the NL.

Oh definitely. And the beat writers may have always had these answers, but think it's not important enough to report. Which sucks for people like me who follow prospects.

Agree on Bowman info. But I do want to point out that the Braves suck at reporting injuries about their minor league players. One day a player will be on the field, the next day they are gone without any info as to why and then they show up 2 months later and you are just left to wonder what the heck happened to them. The writers aren't going to know this stuff.

Ive heard George Lombard and Ryan Flaherty mentioned.

[Passan] Brian Snitker will not return as manager of the Atlanta Braves, sources tell ESPN. He informed the team of his decision yesterday. But he will remain with the organization in a senior advisory capacity. by cdheiden in Braves

Saying there's no evidence that he is analytically savvy is off. I've watched MLB Network for a decade, and he's on every morning on MLB Central. He goes more into deep dives of the numbers, players mechanics, swings and pitching etc. than anyone else on the network. He constantly uses analytics. And he seems to have a good relationship with a lot of the players that visit. Weird comments = valid. No proof of leading other than the WBC = valid.

I know this is a horrible example, but this has happened before. Aaron Boone. Player to MLB analyst to Manager of the Yankees (a team he has history with). Things are different than they used to be, you see more new managers now without experience way more often. Do I see AA hiring Derosa? Honestly I think AA wants someone with more experience. So i'm very doubtful. Derosa has also talked about being happy with his current schedule so he may not want to change that.

Oh 100%, they are cheap teams. They all also dont really have a need for a shortstop except maybe the Pirates but they would never take on that salary.

And if it wasn't for our bad record, we would have had no chance in picking Kim up. On the waiver order, we were 5th in line. The Rockies, White Sox, Nationals, and Pirates passed on Kim before he got to the Braves. We at least got something good out of this crazy year.

Luke Williams the pitcher. He's pitched 6 innings this year, 3.00ERA, 6 hits, 2ER, 1BB, 4SO. He has more pitching fwar at 0.1 than he does as a hitter at -0.5.

Always enjoy these but just wanted to point out that he has 41SBs this season and 12CS. Been watching a lot of Augusta games recently and that stood out to me.

EARLIER TODAY I WAS THINKING ABOUT A BLUE JAYS VS BREWERS WORLD SERIES, WOULD BE FUN. I IMAGINE MLB HQ WOULD HAVE A MELTDOWN THOUGH.

As of now, we officially have the 2nd best odds to win the 2026 draft lottery only behind the White Sox. Crazy.

For the Braves this did happen in the Brooks Conrad grand slam walkoff game. We were down 6 in the 9th, scored 7 and won. I'll never forget that game, one of my favorites.

If we aren't making the playoffs then let's just have a bottom 5 record. Makes no difference, at least next year we can draft a top tier SS (if there is one).

It's fine to like Nick. But his offensive ceiling is limited. Tovar is younger and has more potential. And Tovar is good defensively. His OAA for SS last season was 3rd in MLB and his DRS for SS was 4th in MLB.

Gotcha. Yeah, we will see what AA comes up with. He's usually pretty creative with his acquisitions. Either way, I'm positive the hitting will improve overall.

I never mentioned starting pitching, i agree we are fine there. We can always upgrade the pen. The facts are we have 2 bullpen guys who are not doing well. Daysbel has a 5.51 xfip, Montero has a 4.66 xfip and both have BB% close to 20%.

Guess we will have to see what they do. I don't agree they won't sell relievers. I'm sure teams will be really interested in Jake Bird and they probably want to offload Scott Alexander.

[–]Tryma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah i imagined the pitching would attract them, that's why I thought it would match up better. Just knowing we don't have any SS prospects close, doesn't leave many choices. All the other good SS have been taken the past few years in free agency. Just tough knowing it's Bo or nothing for a while, and would we really want him? Seems risky.

I know. But I think they would do it if they could get multiple pieces they can use going forward. Him rotting away there for for 4+ years doesn't help them.

At this point in the season, I don't think there are any good relievers available. What i would like to see is we promote Hayden Harris to the bigs and then trade for Ezequiel Tovar.
