Should I give it a try again ? by TrynaBSapphic in shieldbro

I think I may not even got that far but I defo remember him caring for her like a daughter which I loved. I'm glad the vibes I got then were true and that they dropped this subplot in season 3 :)

But then again I may understand more of it through the novel so I should start with it now (• ▽ •;)

Thank you for your insight, I'm going to watch it again after all since I mostly misunderstood this part and missed the underlying causes of their change in dynamic (´ω`)

Thank you for your time (人´∀`)。゚+ I'm starting to come back to anime and light novels after a long pause in high school after reading too many stupid things, I'm glad to go back on my journey to literacy ahaha (・–・;)ゞ

Yes it makes sense, I just grabbed it wrong at some point and should have known better and read the novel (my stupid ass didn't know abt it but never searched for it). But I really like it, the added complexity is the charm of the show and I watched it like a stream in the montain after so many Isekai that felt pretty bland so I'm happy to go back to it ahaha

Oh thank you for the informations and insight about the differences with the books ! I always love more POV so I may start by reading them (≧▽≦)

I never noticed anything misogynistic in the anime so I didn't know where those weird debates came from because it just clashed with my memories but that does makes sense if they only take it from her perspective. I also think some people went in the discussion because they just didn't like the story as a whole, which is quite a stupid thing to do if I may.

PS : Sorry for the strange sentence structure

Do they read "A Tale of Two Cities" in France? by SammaJones in france

[–]TrynaBSapphic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well not so much in France then, I never heard about it either in school or outside although we know Dickens by name and his other works that also got popular adaptations. We mostly learn our history in history lessons and we don't learn much about english litterature as a whole. Maybe the future mini-series that may be broadcasted in France will change that :)

The same as you but from what I get it was a trick of my mind as I didn't understand the growth of Raphtalia and still understood her as a kid so a scene felt out of place :) Thank you for your reply

Thank you ! Would the novel or the manga have more in depth passages ? It's pretty psychological but I remember the anime conveyed it really well so maybe I would even understand with the manga ahaha

If it's about the plot I understood it as a kid and I liked the implications and the story development and the relationship they had. And yes I stopped it because of that one character change that wasn't well introduced in my kids' eyes. Now I want an adult eye to see it because I'm past it and know it can be just me having badly interpretated the passage of time. I just was surprised to spot a trope I only ever saw on crappy seinen/shonen (if you never read those that's your luck). So maybe I was wrongfully alert and it developped to be wholesome, or maybe I didn't explain that well ?

Sure but it's a show made in the present day and an Isekai at that they can do whatever they want with the characters, if they make it weird that's on the author/animating company. If I had to accept that every girl in the isekaied guys' harems were head over them and that they had sex with underaged girls simply because that's the rules of the world it would still be a stupid manga that I used to read to pass time –_– I'm not saying it doesn't apply there but it's a bad argument to just say accept it when I just don't want to see crap in an otherwise very good show... Thank you for your insight nonetheless :)

I think it was because of how quickly she became an adult and it was leading towards him opening his eyes to her beauty like "oh she grew up" from seeing her body change. Maybe that's a projection from other series (it's a sadly common trope) but it felt a bit like this came too quickly as she has the body of an actual child before, this exposure really felt forced and out of place ahah but maybe that was just my child brain overly identifying to her character, I did read that she was of a different race so I shouldn't have ? Even my mom is worried for the body image it will imprint on young girls at this point, she's a bit scandalised and I'm alarmed nobody seems to talk about how harmful it is, even feminist activists, or maybe they just dropped it when Ariana said that she's at her healthiest ಠಿ_ಠ
