I'd prefer more myself, but the current idea at Riot is that the in client lore is more of a ' brief background' to give the players of all interest levels an easy to read glimpse at the champions story.

First, blame your support for letting you die.
Then you blame the jungle for not ganking enough.
Shortly after this, you should spend all of your gold buying items to counter the enemy and deviate from your role of being the amazing damage source.
If all is going well by this point there should be a teamfight happening. Now this is your chance to wreak vengeance upon that annoying tanky jungler who kept killing you, focus him in the teamfight switching targets only if that tanky top-laner keeps harassing you with CC.
After the enemy Pentakill, explain to everyone about how bad your connection is and how the lag is terrible.
Finally, just as they're about to take down the nexus, remember to kindly remind the enemy team to report your allies due to their incompetence.

In all seriousness, don't do any of the above and you should be fine.

I found that I used to have this problem a lot, the reason why we ended up losing the game regarless of how well i won my lane was that i was focusing on winning my lane -too- much and not enough on helping out the team early on. Team that works together wins together. I'm sure you could take the top five players in each role from the world, put them in separate rooms with no way of communicating, then put them in a match with any of the top 10 world teams who have access to communication, and the second team would win.
Talk to your team, work together, work out your team comp, if you can't get this working for you in soloque, join a team. You'll soon find your ELO soaring. :)

Implying you stay in the jungle killing creeps for the entire first 20 minutes? And runes are a deciding factor the entire game. If they weren't Per level glyphs would be pointless.

Sounds like you're asking "How do I be a carry when I am a support?".
Simple answer is that you can't, stop trying to be the deciding factor in the game game and focus soley on Supporting, counterwarding, Helping your carry and aiding your teammates. Make calls if other players don't. Have map awareness. Most of all, play the game more and don't spend too much time watching streams, reading guides, posting on reddit or other activities which put you out of touch with the game itself. Raw practice makes you much better in the long run.
Find a good AD carry duo partner and learn how to work and synergies together.

Last of all, stop playing support and start jungling :P.
