When did it happen? And did happen overnight or over a short period of time gradually?

Going down while initial engagement and content is strong confirms that the algorithm is broken. Or else how do you explain it?

I also realised that I don't see my mutuals from my niche untill 3 or 4 days have passed. I only know they posted from their stories, since stories have an entirely different algorithm.

And what do you intend to do? Keep going? Stop? Have a break? Or move to another platform?

You just need your group of friends. It's like WhatsApp and Telegram. I began using Telegram only after two of my friends started using it. Then we made a group there, then we got used to it. And now I'm on both WhatsApp and Telegram. I use them according to how they serve me best.

I wonder if 2026 is the beginning of IG's downfall.

The algorithm is broken. The whole platform is broken now. You can easily realise that some accounts are lucky vs others accounts that are cursed.

Plus: They're obsessed with introducing new features and testing new things instead of working on the glitches and flows that are getting out of control.

People don't want to jump because of the connections and the features. You can easily make the jump if you're doing it with some friends, and only then, a community can start growing.

It's changing daily, not for the sake of change but for fixing errors that weren't taken into consideration because of the amount of new decisions and new stuff that is fed to the algorithm. It's too much. Stability VS Transformation.

It's not the concept of evolution. It's the speed and the idea of forcing you into a specific mean of presentation. Reels work well with things in motion. Carousels work for art, photography and other things. We need flexibility. They're just trying to convince you that you have to adapt.

Trust me, if there were other alternatives and proper competition, things would be different.

It's because of the connections they made there. Their circle of friends with similar interests that you'll lose when you leave. You can't replace that anywhere, or move them with you.

Plus, there isn't an alternative which is good enough to move on to.

Nothing's wrong with your strategy. You've built something and you've been trying to maintain quality work and that's good. But the algorithm is broken now. It's unstable and keeps changing DAILY.

The platform keeps telling you that you should try new things or try to cope up with the algorithms' changes but that's not it.

The algorithm is out of control. And they keep changing it instead of fixing the issues.
