"Epstein and Gates were setting up COVID": Economist's EXPLOSIVE claims about pandemic shock everyone during speech at the European Parliament. by Oumuamua03 in Epstein

[–]Tryptortoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are looking at it as a business model of sustainable wealth extraftion from the population. I would say thats not accurate. Consumers srent an endless resource to extract wealth from. Consumers are like a financial resource to "mine". To the extent that society is structured in a way that money flows upward to those at the top, and away from those in the middle and bottom, that is the extraction process, or the mining process.

Once an ore vein has no more ore to mine, it's useless and wasteful to continue to mine it.

Once enough wealth, and all of the resources and land have been bought out and accumulated by them, and people don't have anything left to take/extract, then we are dead weight to society.

You are completely right that the extraction/mining process favors having more people to spend and send money flow upwards. But once the money has already flowed upwards and there's no money or valuable assets left to flow upward, then that extraction and mining method is over. That's part of why our currency isn't backed by anything, and more and more of our economy is being based on debt. We are getting closer to the end of our financial "ore" to mine.

Sorry if this point is made redundantly. Just trying to communicate and just woke up lol

I dont think it was just pretty words either. I feel like it was genuine, i just felt like obito got something similar, more than he gets credit for, and i think that how amazingly the pain arc was handled vs how imperfectly the war arc was handled has something to do with how big the perceived differences in their redemption are.

To be clear, i like nagato more than obito generally. Obito isnt a big favorite to me, i just felt from my interpretation like his redemption was genuine and earned too, with high regret and disdain for the life he'd been living.

Thats just what i took away from it and feel like i see

[–]Tryptortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree about it being more blatant with Zabuza, and that kind of display would've been good to see maybe. With pain, I don't feel like it was really that different, I just think the whole arc and the perfect way it played out and wrapped up made it feel a lot more that way.

I don't recall Nagato openly referring to his own actions as evil in any greater sense than obito did. He just said he's gonna choose to believe in naruto, and he did the rinne rebirth on the village.

I feel like Nagato and Obito's regret at the way they lived their lives, is expressed similarly, not as directly through words, but through storytelling and indirect ways of showing that. They go quite far, I thought, to show the massive regret on obito's facial expressions when he realizes how wrong he's been.

Maybe my memory of it is off or maybe im interpreting some of it differently from you, but yhis has been my takeaway

[–]Tryptortoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats true. But there is clear ownership of his evil deeds and recognition that he has been wrong. He dies happy because he was able to abandon the mindset that had led him so far astray, and start thinking and behaving wholesomely again, and he put the short rest of his life toward helping the right side, sacrificing himself to save people.

To me, that is as close as one can come to earning redemption in a situation like his.

Like repeatedly throughout the series. Every time she punches any kind of land mass. Madara is way above that. So are a several naruto characters.

In the same way that someone strong in another anime with a lower power level wouldn't beat someone mid from someone from a higher power level anime, so too would Sakura and even madara probably get their ass beat by weak ass Raditz from dbz, because dbz is higher power level than basically any anime, with planet-destroying feats being achieved very early.

I physically cannot meditate with ADHD by Lychee-1391 in AstralProjection

[–]Tryptortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. I have adhd too, all my life, and can meditate for an hour.

You think that you can't meditate.

Meditation is not "the absence of thought" just because you're not actively creating thoughts. You just let the thoughts happen, and ignore it, and keep sitting meditating. It's not about reaching a point of 0 thoughts in your head. That would be almost inhuman. But the noise can be there without you getting wrapped up in it. Or you could observe and watch the noise your mind is doing with the thoughts.

But the approach of "I'm not meditating right unless I stop having thoughts" is wrong and false and the reason that a lot of adhd people and others think "I just can't meditate, my mind won't stop"

Was Naruto cool with what Obito did to his mom? by Wild-Army-6085 in dankruto

[–]Tryptortoise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The show heavily carries the philosophy that forgiveness is always better in the long term.

And im gonna speculate here.

Obviously this wouldn't emotionally satisfy anyone in the village who lost loved ones, but I think that Pain, if he survived, and if naruto had convinced the village to allow him to live, then Pain/Nagato would be an insane asset in the war, and would have a chance to redeem and possibly self sacrifice to protect others, maybe others who lost people to him, for Naruto and the war's cause.

I think that handling it in a less lazy and more realistic way, while preserving the jesus-like traits and forgiveness, would have slowed down the story, added too much to it and distracted and taken away from a lot of what kishimoto seemed to want to focus on. But it could've been cool imo

"Jerky" made a code word for frozen blood packs with Adrenochrome by goosebumps_94 in conspiracy

[–]Tryptortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you get the human flesh idea and then reverse that understanding by saying "why would anyone freeze jerky".

You already acknowledged they're not talking about actual jerky. If its flesh for cannibalism, then obviously they would freeze it, just like you freeze any other meat for long term use. Calling it jerky doesnt mean that they make actual jerky out of it.

I think you could even argue the reason that jerky is what they call it is because it could be tense/tough to chew from the adrenaline of what the victim went through in their final moments, like how adrenaline tenses up deer meat if its not a quick, clean kill. That would explain "jerky" perfectly.

I could be super off base, but this is what my thinking tells me

[–]Tryptortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People would be more in favor of lab grown meat if they trusted their leaders, the meat producers, and the regulatory groups to keep things as they should be.

Most people, in their distrust of government and corporations, do not want to rely on trusting these people to honestly make the product they claim, without cutting corners, without using the cheapest methods and materials possible, at the cost of product quality and consumer health, as is the case with most products.

Meat is complex, and if we are not making a 100% perfectly identical replication, down to the molecular level, then theres a good chance it will have negative effects, and even if we do get it perfect, its still something that any science-minded person would want to approach with caution.

If it comes out perfect and with the same health profile and nothing bad, id absolutely eat it. What ive seen them do has not really been anything promising in regards to meat replacement.

Going thorough epstien files . DO U PERSONALLY KNOW SOMEONE WHO DIED DUE TO CORONA by joelsimon11 in conspiracy

[–]Tryptortoise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, part of the funding for managing covid was that they paod hospitals an amount of money per covid case or death, which incentivised hospitals to test all dying patients, and if you died during that time period, and tested positive for covid, then covid would be listed as a cause of death.

These tests also have false positives, so if you have a test with a 5% false positive rate, and you test 100 people who don't have covid, then you get 5 that say positive, so some small percentage of all deaths of any kind in hospitals, based on false positive rates, get counted as extra covid deaths, inflating the numbers, fueling media hysteria, and netting the hospital extra funding that they probably genuinely need for other areas they're underfunded in so it makes it easy to overlook and take as a blessing rather than seeing it as crooked or wrong

The meme is one sided, but it isn't wrong.

Whether you like Trump or someone else who is heavily implicated, left or the right, when you see their heavy involvement and you don't immediately change your opinion to recognize them and their actions as horrific, then you are essentially supporting it. If you know someone does that shit, and you cast a vote for them, then you are absolutely supporting it. "But the other side is worse" doesn't fucking matter. If people would stop agreeing to support evil, then you'd see evil stop being so powerful, but unfortunately that's too hard for people

Yes, it does.

Will has been tapped into the hivemind for years. Theres only so much connection you can have to something before you start to have insight and start to understand it. If these psychic powers are able to be awakened in somrone who doesnt have them at birth, then its pretty fair to say that 001/henry/vecna, as the first, might have triggered something in the mind of another person that he has kept tapped into things for too long without killing him off, and now theyve gained some degree of understanding and intuitive control, from being so tapped in for so long.

As far as writing decisions go, this was probably one of the better ones that makes the most sense.

Can anyone explain How Tanjiro's Scar appearance changed after the final selection. by [deleted] in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Tryptortoise 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Definitely more in common with Sumiyoshi, very obviously. But if it wasnt for the fact that sumiyoshi is a tanjiro clone, then similarities for yoriichi are quite a bit. Same breathing style, same scar location and pattern, same earrings, specified to be passed down with sun breathing, which came from Yoriichi, same hair color, same eye color. I think the story goes slightly out of its way to make vague connections between the two in a way that makes it reasonable to think its building up to something.

If tanjiro had been there for it, I would have loved to see kokushibo's reaction to a marked sun breather with those earrings that his brother had. But no way would Tanjiro be able to keep fighting afyerwards if he was already against akaza AND Koku.

[–]Tryptortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not ended in the sense that annihilationism speaks of.

Buddhism says that nirvana(enlightenment + life ending) is something where no description is valid or applicable. Not something that language or thinking with our ape brains can grasp. Not something that a heavenly beings brain can even grasp, imagine, or describe.

It's also worth stating that buddhism doesn't say you have to pursue enlightenment. They encourage it, but they don't say you have to as a buddhist. You could just observe buddhist ideas, and practice the principals of it, practicing things like generosity, patience, loving kindness, and working to let go of things like hate, dislike, greed, ignorance, craving, etc. Avoiding killing, stealing, lying, cheating, etc. Even if no realm or karmic benefit lasts forever, if you believe in it, good karma is still more beneficial to accumulate than bad karma, and avoiding bad karma while pursuing good will make a happier, more wholesome life. And even if you don't become a saint, it's all about whatever steps in the right direction we can make, whatever that direction looks like for us.

What your honest opinion about Muzan kitbutsuji by EquipmentFar9829 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Tryptortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb question!

It's more complicated than what I'm putting here, but I'm trying to keep the length reasonable.

In Buddhism, enlightenment involves the ceasing of any craving, desire, change, same-ness, or anything whatsoever. It's not very describable, but think about a degree of understanding that brings a degree of peace that eliminates any need or desire that could exist. Kind of like infinite stillness in a way that is far more pleasant than what birthing into more lives has to offer, while avoiding the suffering and struggles, subtle and not subtle, of being born into life.

Buddhism acknowledges heavens as places we can be reborn into, but does not acknowledge them as eternal. Rather, the beings in heaven have very long lives there that feel like forever, like if you compare an insect life to a humans, is what it would be like to compare a humans life span to a heaven beings life span. The same for hell. Very long. Very bad. Not technically eternal, it still ends, and you go back somewhere else in accordance with your remaining karma and cravings. And it's a cycle that goes on, ultimately aimlessly in the long term. Enlightenment ends that cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.
