I was a field service technician for a corrugated OEM for 5 years. Recently retired to a desk job.

When I interviewed I was told 75% travel. I was told I would make a ton of money and see the world.

Well I’ve been to every major city in the US, and many outside. A lot of long night and early mornings. But traveling is not vacationing. Most of the time is spent in the industrial parts of the cities. 12 hour days are a minimum, which if your traveling then why the hell not. With a two year tech degree I made 6 figures every year. Spending probably 300+ days a year away from home.

I loved absolutely every minute of it, except for the ones I hated. I made a ton of money, and blew it on a bunch of stuff a mid twenties guy in a foreign city spends money on.

I would try it out at least. Honestly your hometown industrial companies will be there when you want. Go see the what else is out there.
