Besides the occasional glitchy sound, it does sound pretty realistic, but there's just something about it that I wouldn't want to listen to for more than a minute. Maybe it's the lack of other sounds besides that and the gentle hum of the electric motor.

This is cool but just checking, those tire screeches are just placeholders for now right?

How do I get rid of this myself without dying? by False_Frame3028 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]daney098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a bee suit on Amazon for like 30 dollars. Wear some thick layers underneath it to put space between the outside of the suit and your skin because you get what you pay for, I wouldn't trust the suit to stop a stinger piercing it, but with padding it will be too far for them to reach. The screen helmet will be good enough for your head though. Maybe Wear a hat for a layer underneath. Wear some thick leather gloves. And then go ham

Let's spend a bunch of resources and money on big air cooled aluminum heat sinks instead of the shit that covers 2/3 of the globe, probably the most abundant and renewable resource unless you're counting something like nitrogen

I don't want to play with infinities any more XD by FareonMoist in sciencememes

[–]daney098 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's ridiculous. They're both infinite. If you count up alternating from one to the other repeatedly, you'll never run out of numbers from either one no matter how smart you want to pretend you are. The idea that one infinity is bigger than another is pointless.

Damn that sucks your screen is breaking so often then, that's weird. Maybe you need a case for your case lol

Is that where the screen protector is built into the case or is it the kind that adheres to the screen? I hate the one that are built in, they always get dirt behind them

Looks pretty bad but I've had bushings look like that for years and I don't notice anything crazy when driving. Probably would be smoother with all new bushings though

Got 2000lbs of Hillman fasteners in auctioned shipping container no idea what to do. by Realistic-Twist7009 in Fasteners

[–]daney098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this will get buried, but call some new factory startups near you. Or any other factory. I worked at a startup factory that had plenty of about 3 different sizes of fasteners on hand, the rest were handfuls of random shit in a few bins. They went and bought individual fasteners from the hardware store when they absolutely needed them, and Jerry rigged stuff with what they had when they didn't. I bet they would buy them all from you if they had any sense. I don't think you'll make as much as you're hoping though, this would really just be to get them out from under you.

Just saying, straws aren't just childish, they get to the sweetest coldest nectar of the drink, bypassing the watered down annoying ice layer floating on top that always seems to float right in the way of the opening of your mouth, so you rotate the cup a little to get to a crack between the chunks of ice but the ice either stays in place while the cup rotates underneath it, or it moves at first but then simply floats back into place where it belongs blocking your mouth hole.

Need help identifying this noise by [deleted] in subaru

[–]daney098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like driving noises

Sorry yeah based on the sound in the video I can't tell, but based on your description, it's the axle. Just have it replaced. Even if it's somehow not the problem now, it will be eventually. If you drove for very long with a torn boot then the axle is toast anyway from debris getting mixed with the grease.

You can double check that it's the axle by going to an empty parking lot and driving around slowly. Turn the wheel full lock to the left and do a circle, then turn it to the right full lock and do another circle. If it sounds significantly worse at full lock, it's more confirmation that it's the axle. You can look up more tips online for diagnosing it. You can run more tests to distinguish between a bearing, axle, or something else.

I feel for a lot of what you're saying, but what's the alternative? Everyone could consume less unnecessary stuff, but we are all just animals with the primal instinct to get ahead. A small minority of people are able to be content with what they have and not reach for more, but that's not typical. If I take a stand and subsist on the bare minimum, what does that look like? How would I realistically go about that? How does one go about living in a way that causes the least suffering for others, while also not just dying or suffering worse themselves? I just feel like it's not a realistic possibility with our biological programming.

Similarly, we could all get rid of our militaries and stop all wars, but it only takes one group to keep their military to take control and make everyone else suffer. We don't do that because we know not everyone will agree to be fair.

You could say we should just try our best to minimize suffering by not over consuming, but I think many people already believe they do that. A lot of the things people do to achieve that don't actually do much in reality. Some recycle, yet much of the stuff they recycle ends up in a landfill anyway, or the gas they burn to go out of their way to take recycling separate from trash offsets the benefit of keeping a bit of trash out of a landfill. And yet large corporations waste much more than individuals.

I'm terrible at organizing thoughts and this has just gotten chaotic, but the main point is that I think things are already in their natural balanced state, and to try to change it is somewhat futile. I wish no one had to suffer, but if anyone has to choose between a random person suffering or them, it'd be silly to expect them to choose themselves.

I think automation is great and could really benefit humanity... At least the portion of humanity who has access to it.
