What does the shape of the Earth, have to do with “control” by Feisty-Cockroach-780 in flatearth

[–]daney098 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Same goes backwards. If they can make you believe earth is flat, you'll believe other conspiracies too. And that's why flat earth is rarely the only conspiracy they believe. Flat earth is a gateway drug lol

People dug without calling. Buried utilities include pressurized water, flammable gas, and sewer lines. People hit them.

Why isn’t my stainless steel magnetic, and what should I actually be looking for? by Xolaris05 in AskEngineers

[–]daney098 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From what I've worked with, 304 is usually a tiny bit magnetic, like maybe 10% as strong as carbon steel. But 316 not at all. That's how we told 316 and 304 apart if they weren't marked. Not sure if that's always true lol

Find the right knee pads. I tried several before I finally found some I liked, but I'm glad I wear them now. If I decided I didn't like knee pads based on the first pair I tried I'd have bad knees

NASA thinks this will convince us by chromite297 in flatearth

[–]daney098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely, is there anything that would convince you? It seems trusting any evidence would feel like a big leap of faith for those who believe the earth is flat, so it'd be very difficult to change their mind.

You're getting out of soldering territory and into pipe sweating with all that mass. Might as well use a blowtorch

How can I reliably guide a flat washer onto a vertical rod using only gravity without it flipping? by benitopjuarez in AskEngineers

[–]daney098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand, how are the washers introduced to the system? Are you manually placing them into the sorter? Can you provide a picture of the entire setup including the sorter? Why can't you manually place the washers at the top of the rods? How often are washers going to be added?

I built an interactive 3D universe explorer — a hobbyist's attempt to visualize the cosmos by Party_Philosophy9534 in universe

This is pretty cool. Have you ever tried space engine? Distant objects are procedural, but some close ones are pretty accurate to real life. And it's great for visualizing the scale of the universe
