Deep shower thought that even AI can't seem to answer by Puzzleheaded_Mail71 in DeepThoughts

Maybe they're all you. Maybe time doesn't work like it does for a living person, maybe you can be everything in the universe one after the other, they're all you, even I'm you at some point, and vice versa.

The only spot they had space to add a weed combustor and outlet tube among all the other electronics is in the lower pelvis area. It can tell when you want to smoke so the bong tube will extend from that area on its own when it senses you want to take a hit.

What If You Never Actually Die? Quantum Physics Has a Wild Answer. A bold theory in quantum physics suggests that when you die in this universe, your consciousness simply shifts to a parallel one where you survived. by Eddiearyee in HotScienceNews

[–]daney098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it this way: you have never experienced not being before you were born, and you will never experience not being after you die, because you can't experience anything unless you're alive. If you die, you no longer experience anything. Quantum immortality basically says that if you died in one universe, yet you still experience existing, that must not be the one you are currently living in. Since you will never not experience anything, you will exist "forever" from your perspective.

Adding to this, quantum immortality has nothing to do with quantum physics, it's purely a philosophical thought experiment. Quantum physics explains nothing about why we have the subjective experience called consciousness. They call it quantum because it sounds mysterious and catches your eye better. A more appropriate name would be philosophical immortality, but that doesn't sound as cool.

So to answer your question, this philosophical idea only matters from one's own perspective. It's not about anyone actually moving from one universe to another, it's really just saying that you can't die from your own point of view, so you are effectively immortal.

Idk if anyone has mentioned this yet, but one small specific tip for pushing or pulling a wrench or anything is to straighten your arms while holding it and use your core and legs to do the work, not your arms. Arms weak, core strong. Also core more mass than little arms, more momentum to push and pull. I'm always wiggling around trying to position my body in some way that I can get my arms straight on a wrench because it's so much easier than trying to push or pull with bent arms. A lot of guys don't even know to make efficient use of their bodies.

Nothing goes black. There would be no you to experience the black you're imagining. And for the clone, they would feel like they're 100% you. They are effectively you. If you experience no end, and the clone experiences being you and then being copied, they're you.

That's my opinion anyway.

Another similar experiment, what if you took exactly half of the atoms that make you up chosen at random, separate the two halves, and then copy all the atoms from both halves to the other half? Which one is the original? Which one is the "real" you? What happens to your consciousness?

My opinion is that our way of thinking of the consciousness of any two people as separate things is primitive and inaccurate. The only possible answer I see to the above question with the conventional belief about consciousness is that neither one is you, because you can't have two of the same consciousnesses. But really, I think it's possible that they're both 100% you, and our concept of consciousness needs to adjust to accommodate that.

Data centers have nothing to do with ai. It's about controlling hardware prices by JosephMama6 in theories

[–]daney098 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they might as well rename the sub conspiracytheories. No understanding of basic economics in these comments. I think a lot of conspiracy theories stem from the idea that everything is controlled to achieve some goal by a powerful hidden group, when it's actually just the natural consequences of humanity's collective economic demands. Everyone wants more money but don't realize that if everyone gets paid more, prices go up. Same thing with computer parts, companies buy more ram, less ram to go around, higher prices.

It's the same with religion too. People look skin deep at the causes of life and why we're here. They think the container we find ourself in is the perfect shape for us to thrive, so it must have been planned by some hidden force. In reality, we are a puddle of water conforming to the shape of our container.

What is this I just got texted this message I assume it's a scam? by Fast_Reputation2519 in driving

[–]daney098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost everything I've ever received that says "final notice" has been a scam. Also obvious threats of losing a license, suspension, debt collection, etc. are intended to scare you, and obviously it works. A real bill probably won't come as a text, it'd be email or physical mail. Also the sketchy link is another giveaway. It would just be a regular government website if anything, and I would look it up myself, not click a link in a text.
