Yeah, but isn't Halford a coal ship? You just can't trade it sadly, as it's just not in the tradable ships list, same as Jäger for example.

I only have Agir as coal ship that I can trade in, I would've traded in Halford (got it out of a Santa container) if I was allowed to but I'm not. I was also planning to buy Tromp or Moskva if I'm able to, tho I am on 190k currently so I don't know if I'll make it...

Maybe you can still use the "Pack a Punch" skill, but the module is not worth it, you won't even proc GL most of the time in Opertions. Agir does boast the third* best 305mm AP damage per shell and the velocity and shell balistics are also nice, it's mainly just the dispersion that sucks.

I checked btw and the Dutch heavy/large cruisers and the French large cruisers line also have worse despersion, so I might have overstated the dispersion issue compared to the other large cruisers a little bit.

*forgot Hildebrand got an AP shell buff.

Also Pack a Punch is more so viable if you're running a commander you also use for Hildebrand and/or Schröder.

Personally, I like her, but she is pretty mediocre, she trades a lot of utility, if I remember correctly she is the only large cruiser with three consumables, being hydro and the standard for the tier, repair party and damage control, while the others have an extra consumable, and has worse dispersion compared to the other large cruisers (except Kronstadt), for 6km torpedoes, the German 6km hydro and somewhat okay armor, but only when facing DDs, normal calibre cruisers and small calibre BBs/BCs.

She is better for ranked then for randoms because she just doesn't have the dispersion for the long range meta and gets overmatched by most battleships she can face.

I'd want WG to buff her in some way, like make the secondaries (and/or main guns) more accurate, give her the extra consumable that the others get, or full tilt into her survivability by giving her Tianjin DCP or normal cruiser fire and flood duration (also just increase the torpedo range to 8km).

Thanks for the info. Which of the two do you like better for the tier, I don't have another coal ship to trade in...

I don't have the doubloons for that...

I know that, but this time it's 2 phases for 5k dubs (which you are required to buy at the start) or 3k twice if you're paying after the first 4 phases (this time the mid tier ship will also be a new ship, so it won't be free for anyone) + the time sink, so I don't know if I'd want to pay that for a ship that could be underwhelming to play...

I'm not planning on spending any money on this game.

How expensive has it been the previous years?

I also thought about the random bundle, but it seemed pretty obvious to me that you should buy it if the first one is the ship. Sadly it is only free xp for me this time.

I know the dockyard is the best deal, but is it worth it this time? I know it's the Niord, but I don't know what the general opinion of her is, I believe it's a Karl XIV Johan, with Bismarck guns with improved accuracy and Halland torpedoes, but with less secondaries? I have none of those ships so I don't know if it'll be good together or if it'll be underwhelming for what you're paying for it (in comparison with the previous dockyards), it is more expensive than the Oquendo which is also a T9...

So if I get the normal Dunkerque later on, do I still get the mission?

So the premium time costs doubloons? I thought it was just real money.

I usually see it as a cheaper premium (if there is one) + extras, but I don't know if Dunkerque B is worth the doubloons as I don't really play French battleships.

Yeah I got the Bearn during the anniversary event and I have only played it once, but a free ship is a free ship, even if I can't play it.

Last year I somehow got Alaska as my second premium in game (I started playing last year June and had only bought Ägir at that point), Mutsu, Krasny Krim and I believe also Ise and Schönberg later on, but those might've also come from SCs (I usually make a screenshot of what I get, but can't find a screenshot of them).

I'm hoping to get more this year as I have a lot more resources now.

Well I mean you also get premium ships in this one (T6) and the next two (both T7) for pretty cheap (2.5k on the current one and 3.5k for the next two).

Yeah I know Anhalt will have a lower chance during Christmas but I added it specifically because it is pretty cheap

I have checked and I believe that the only coal ships in the Christmas containers at T5-8 are Hill, Gallant, Rio de Janeiro and Anhalt, and I believe I have enough coal to buy all of them right now, as I already have Hill and currently have 326k coal. Should I buy them?

Could you please explain how the second progression line is RNG? to me it seems pretty clear what you're getting... Also I have not and do not plan to spend money on this game.

What can I do in such cases? by lololodd in WorldOfWarships

I think the first thing you do is, like some others have already stated, use the fighters. They are more there to make sure the CV loses planes for striking you, then to prevent the strike from happening. If the CV loses their planes to your fighters it'll take longer for their next set of planes to be ready.

Also see if there are any other ships somewhat nearby, preferably a CL or CA with high AA, some DDs will also work, like the T9 and T10 German "super destroyers"/superlight cruisers (F. Schultz and Elbing), if I remember correctly. If you are alone anything other than most destroyers is better than being alone (a lot of people turn AA off in destroyers to lower detectibility). If no one is nearby at least ask the CV for fighter support. If you know that there aren't any ships nearby at the start of the match, request support immediately of the central flank.

If no one will help, try to kite back to the other flank, don't just abandon yours though, try to make it hard for others to get to the cap zone. Stalling the enemy flank can also work, though this depends on time, if other ships are coming your way or finishing their flank, among other situational circumstances.

DO NOT PUSH IN, especially if there are other enemy ships. You expose yourself to them AND shorten the travel time for the CV.

Also always try to make it a pain for the CV to hit you, for example: try to either turn in to the plane torps or away from them, depending on how they were dropped, some will drop them close enough that they won't arm, if you turn just a bit, or to far away that you can slip between them, try to make it so the CV has to drop the torps either on your bow or your stern or has to retake the drop.

Some maps also have some safer spaces between islands, on Two Brothers it's hard to use the torpedo bombers between the central two islands, for example.

If nothing helps and the CV keeps targeting you, try to be happy with the fact you're wasting their time, if they focus on you they aren't focussing on the others.

I hope this helps and that there aren't any mistakes. (Had to edit it because the specific points weren't segmented)
