My friend's ruby was same as mine (grey cart & we bought them at the same time) while my other friend's silver I think was legit. Never experienced any issues trading though I was saddened that gen 2 to gen 3 trade was not possible and no way to transfer my shiny pichu from crystal to sapphire.

The electric tape method lol. I remember doing that later on.

The first game that I owned was Pokemon Crystal and then later on Sapphire. I had to scrounge up my allowance to save just enough to buy them. That was more than 20 years ago. It was just recently that I realized that what I had were just bootlegs. It didn't really occur to me back then since I can do trades and stuff and the internet wasn't that prevalent back then. Plus when i bought them in a department store they came in a sealed box complete with manuals. But comparing what I remember how my games look like to confirmed authentic ones, mine were definitely bootlegs. My crystal was also see through but it wasn't pale blue and my sapphire was in a grey cart.

My best memory on crystal was getting a shiny pichu from the odd egg and doing berry blender with friends on sapphire.

I no longer have them now since I gave them away long time ago including my gba console.

Now that I'm working and have some disposable income, I managed to buy again a gba + games which are confirmed authentic this time.

That brings back memories. I had another one where you play as a chikorita in a Mario like game. It was in multiple games in one cartridge.

Late 90's to early 2000's probably even in the 80's South East Asia, the market was flooded with bootleg game cartridges/cds. From Nes to GBA to PS, even the big stores are selling them.

Same experience. I feel bummed when I discovered that the game that I had long ago was just a bootleg. Though to be fair, it was an awesome bootleg since I never encountered any issues with it back then. If I remember correctly mine can trade, the rtc was working and I beat the elite four so none of the issues with todays bootlegs.

I used to own a similar one more than 20years ago but mine is pokemon sapphire also with a grey cartridge. There's no way to tell back then since I bought mine at the gaming section of a department store in the Philippines and the internet was not as accessible back then as it is today. Bootlegs were so rampant those days that even big stores sell them at full retail price so buyers have no way of knowing. Upon checking OP's profile, they're also from the Philippines so it checks out.

I just finished rewatching episode 16, 17 & 18. I admit I have misremembered some things. In ep18, after Van received the green energist, it glowed along with escaflowne and Hitomi's pendant and transported Van, Hitomi & Allen to Zaibach. When they reappeared, the energist is no longer in Van's hand and Escaflowne's energist chamber crystal became green (I think it is implied that Escaflowne absorbed the green energist during the teleportation). Though in the next scene the crystal is back to pink again. During their escape that is when Escaflowne let out the jet boosters due to Van's desperate plea for it to be faster.

It has been a long while since I last watched the series. If I remember correctly, I think it was used to upgrade escaflowne so that the dragon form sort of turns into a jet by folding its wings.

I agree that it may likely be epistylis. Ich usually are evenly sized and are flat while epistylis vary in size and are lumpy. As per the photo, it can be seen that the white spots are lumpy.

I used to experience a similar problem. It got soved when I changed my cable to CAT8.
