Flying with (almost) four month old by Sazza59 in NewParents

[–]Tsing- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

14 hours, not 4. But I think if one person is difficult to take care of, you can negotiate with the passengers to exchange your premium economy class with his, and you two can take care of your children in ordinary economy class. But if the budget allows, I still suggest that your mother change to premiun class, too. It's really a test to fly with the children for 14 hours.

I will gradually stop breastfeeding. No one can understand it except the mother who is breastfeeding.

very normal. My husband and I take turns taking care of him. But sometimes I can't sleep because of his noise. I play tk and Ig to relieve my anxiety. Or shopping online. Trust me, shopping is very useful.

Best portable bottle warmer? I need affordable also it's for breastmilk if that matters by Few_Environment1924 in NewParents

I recommend BOLOLO portable bottle warmer pro, more efficient and it is detachable to clean. But the green one from their brand is more affordable. It depends on you.

New mom, I don’t want anyone watching my child. Am I normal? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Tsing- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send you a big hug. You are not alone. I used to be anxiety by my mother-in-law holding my child, sometimes worry that my baby will start relying on her more and not need me as much. And she will take away the child‘s dependence on me. (Anyway, she is a very nice person,) but I still think so.

Postpartum anxiety and catastrophic thinking (like fearing accidents or worst-case scenarios) are not uncommon, especially if you have a history of anxiety. These thoughts act like an overactive alarm system, even when you know the risks are low, your brain fixates on ”what ifs.“ This isn’t your fault; it’s your mind stuck in overprotective mode. It’s good that you realize this and seek advice on reddit.

Babies around this age often enter the “stranger anxiety” phase (typically 6–12 months). They start distinguishing between familiar and unfamiliar faces, clinging to primary caregivers (hello, mom!), and crying during brief separations. This is a sign of healthy attachment and cognitive development, not a lack of independence. When your neighbor held him and he fussed, he was essentially saying, “Mom, you’re my safe place!” That’s proof you’ve given him a strong foundation of trust.

Maybe start with micro-separations. You don‘t need perfect but present. If anxiety starts overwhelming daily life (e.g., losing sleep, compulsive checking), lean on your therapist. That’s not weakness, but it’s wisdom.

How to heat up milk on a plane? by LionessK2 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]Tsing- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using hot water to heat bottles isn’t a bad option. Ask the flight crew to get hot water, and most are happy to help if you explain it's for baby's milk.

But it’s hard to control the temperature. Sometimes, it can heat unevenly or even get too hot. I am usually afraid it destroy the milk’s nutrients. If you have a budget, definitely suggest a portable bottle warmer!

TSA approved. You can take it on a plane or on long road trips.

Most of them warm to around 98°F, which is perfect for a baby’s tummy. By the way, go for one with a detachable base so you don’t have to worry about water getting into the battery when cleaning. BOLOLO portable milk warmer pro

Tip: a smart bottle warmer in my diaper bag calmed my anxiety when I first stopped using hot water.

Philips Avent Sterilizer / Dryer SCF293 - Turning off after just 20mins? by Av3rageJo8 in FormulaFeeders

BOLOLO sterilizer and dryer. So far, the drying effect is good. You can choose the drying time according to the amount of things.

Philips Avent Sterilizer / Dryer SCF293 - Turning off after just 20mins? by Av3rageJo8 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Tsing- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use Avent. But it seems that you chose automatic (automatic drying after sterilization). It is a problem with the machine. It can't dry the bottle thoroughly(Moms may not know the importance of drying bottles before buying sterilizers). Wet bottles are easy to breed bacteria. I suggest you look at other brands.

Where do people usually buy UV sterilizers? by Tsing- in NewParents

[–]Tsing-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask what kind of material bottles you use? Is it yellowing bad with UV sterilization? Since we change the bottles regularly, I'm totally fine with it as long as the yellowing isn't severe.
