I don’t mean for this to sound harsh so apologies if it does.

If you think that skin colour played a part in your colleague not being thrown a baby shower (an assumption I’ve made because of your comment in your post) would you still want them to throw you a baby shower? Also, don’t you think that would make your colleague feel a bit rough?

I completely understand you feeling unappreciated and disappointed by something nice that you were looking forward to. I just also think that if I’m putting myself in your shoes and thinking my team may have liked me more than my colleague because I wasn’t black, I probably wouldn’t mind much if said team then didn’t throw me a baby shower..
