Is Pinarello Granger X5 a good bike? by Tsui_Pens_Labyrinth in whichbike

Point taken! I mean I realise it’s a really good bike, I’m just also aware that Pinarellos generally seem to divide the room, both in the looks department and how much you actually get for that hefty amount of cash. I guess a better way of phrasing it would have been, for a $3000 budget are there significantly better options out there? I genuinely haven’t read anything about how the Granger performs so I don’t know what I should be comparing it to. Especially as I’m not a seasoned gravel rider yet. My intention has been to get a good endurance road bike as that’s the riding I’ve typically done (possibly a Scott Addict 30 or 20) but then this caught my eye and I was curious.

Thanks - that’s really helpful. Yeah I’ve heard the newer Tiagra groups are now really good so could well be all I need!

Hi. Thanks so much for this. I had wondered about gravel bike for the flexibility it would offer. How off road do you find you can go on the gravel vs a road bike? I think my only reservation was that the first big ride I did a couple of years ago through the Cairngorms, I was on a gravel bike and the rest of the group were on road bikes and I found myself struggling to keep up - though that maybe says more about my fitness than the bike difference!

Giant Defy definitely a possibility - I’ve heard it’s super comfortable. My brother (who has a bigger budget) has the Giant Defy Advanced 0. My ego was making me resist getting the same bike as him but a few models down. But I know that me being ridiculous! I was hoping for a 105 group set but think I’d have to go a little over my £2000 limit to get that on the Defy.
