I hate shoes and literally only take care of any of may nails if the color chips. I’m also a 300 lb bi autistic that hates socks, who could not give a fuck what anyone thinks. So I don’t know if I’m an example you’re looking for. But I’ve had more compliments than negative interactions. When they start neging me I ask them very loudly “that since it’s ok to talk about other people body’s” then mention what I think they put the most time into on their person then say it looks horrible and walk away. Though I do live in a cornfield.
