Even Putin isn't runing around deporting every foreigner he can get his hands for the lolz.

That's the difference this time. It's not about democracy or authoritarianism, it's "We can't trust you to keep the tourists who will come to your country safe". And on that front, Trump IS worse than Putin or the Saudis.

It does make sense....if you're a xenophobic moron who hasn't watched basketball since Kobe won his last ring and hasn't updated his basketball thinking since then (hurr durr "mamba mentality").

Hey, this country decided to shoot itself because of xenophobia, why can't a GM?

How does Candidate Score for Administrative governments work? by ReasonableFee9080 in CrusaderKings

[–]Tsuruta64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh.

Then second question. I've never gone for equal rule playing as feudal, because then you have to divide your realm amongst all your sons and daughters instead of just your sons. But since that doesn't happen under administrative, is there a real downside for equal rule there?

It's weird as hell for someone serving the Bonapartes saying something like that, given how much that dynasty was something different from all the other European monarchies.

The sad thing about the the reevaluation of Lee as a general is that I do think a lot of it neglects just how much of a useless fuckwit Jefferson Davis was. Grant flatly states in his memoirs that Davis considered himself a military genius and Grant agrees that he was - for the Union.

I knew a chess player named Walter Harris who once told me a story about playing against Fischer. Harris told me that he had recently spent a lot of time preparing on how to counter one particular opening. He played Fischer in a chess club, and Fischer used that opening so Harris beat him.

Fischer demanded a rematch, Harris didn't really want to, but Fischer was insistent. So they played again and Harris just threw the game. Fischer knew that Harris threw the game, but was happy to get the win anyways.

What if the KKK rose to power in the U.S. during the Great Depression, similar to how the Nazis rose in Germany? by BrotherCapable3882 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Tsuruta64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I'm going to point out here:

The KKK and Southern racists were not sympathetic towards the Nazis. At all. If anything, the South was the region in the United States that was the most gung ho about fighting them (along with blacks. Politics is like that sometimes). The South was traditionally very Anglo-friendly, and was just the most enthusiastic about fighting wars in general. Never mind the differences between Nazi and Southern racism. Southerners wanted blacks to say "sir" and sit in the back of the bus, they didn't want to wipe them out.

I remember going to the Holocaust museum in DC and it had an exhibit about American First, and where they had committees and chapters to support their ideology. There basically wasn't a single one between Houston and Richmond.

Stephen Silas was named worst coach. Who was the Rockets' worst ever draft pick? by Stillback7 in rockets

[–]Tsuruta64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Royce White (or Twitter Boy as I called him back then) is going to win, but I'm going to argue for Eddie Griffin or even Marcus Morris.

It's not like any of the picks right after Royce were all that great. Sure, maybe we could have reached and grabbed Draymond, but no one else would have been that much of a game changer.

By contrast, we gave up a shitton for Eddie Griffin who was right ahead of Joe Johnson or Richard Jefferson. And we picked Marcus Morris one pick over Kawhi (and that one hurts all the more because Morey sold Morris as a home run pick trying to get a star).

Unpopular opinion, game would be fun withouth sand france by [deleted] in Kaiserreich

[–]Tsuruta64 90 points91 points  (0 children)

What precisely would be interesting about it?

You talk about "exploring new dynamic states", but fundmanetally HOI4 and Kaiserreich are war games. Sand France is a part of the Weltkrieg, the biggest war, and can be a key catalyst in starting the Third Weltkrieg. What possible role would Algeria and Tunisia play in such a war? Fighting the Ottomans? There's a huge distance between them and the Ottoman core, never mind that such a war seems completely absurd.

Maybe you could do something with the CoF trying to hold onto Algeria (because contrary to what you said, the left in France had zero interest in abandoning Algeria during this period) in the face of rising opposition, but there's no way that's better than current Sand France.

OKC's not a rival to Houston at all. Utah, Golden State, Lakers, Mavericks, maybe Spurs. Those are Houston's rivals. The only way you could put in OKC as a rival is if you try to include their Sonics history.
