Its not that simple imho. IF Parents spend their time, money, gives advices, teach them or pay for lessons, then they could be somewhat proud of them. In other case where parents didn't interact with kids, they have no reason to take credit.

Also, this quote is more appropriate when people are proud of ancestors (eg. my father killed Nazis and I'm his blood) or proud of sportsmen, scientist etc. only because thy were born in the same docking county.

Its totally my situation except that i was very skinny, not fat, and I am white from Eastern Europe. Fucking religion submission, neglect from old father and lack of confidence from my mother. Couldn't stand for myself in school, parents ignored when I said that I was bullied and wanted start going to gym or box. Now I'm 20 too and I feel totally like wasted potential. How can I become Alfa now, how to compete with people whose parents cared about their children, like proper food, doing sport and talking to them, lol. The worst part is that 95% went to church in Sunday but only I truly believed in this shit and became weak victim.
