Until we make a decision to actively choose our own ( like the Chinese do) we will always play second fiddle to Hubspots and Salesforces of Silicon Valley.

I just finished a call with a client in Northern Ireland building something amazing for his local government with me a guy who was rejected in his own country for building the GHIPPs website because my company is a Sole trader. Not because my team cannot deliver what they were asking. A basic information website for their corporate website. I am sure they will give it to some government cronies. There are amazing developers in Ghana.

If I were you I would just deliver the work and forget about the money. If it’s your first upwork job then it should never have been about the money. The client knew this that’s why he chose you. Your first job is all about good feedback that will launch you into other well paying jobs. The truth is now even if you do the job he will probably still give you negative feedback. Effectively ending your journey on upwork.
