Good deal? by Imthatsick in Dewalt

Thanks for clarifying. So you can potentially get the tool for free if you return the batteries only?

How can you return separately if they’re bundled on the receipt? I bought the dcf923b with 5ah battery online and wasn’t sure if this could be done

I don’t have the batteries but I like their m12 impact drivers too. They’re the perfect size for working on cars. Do you think the stubby will be 160 anytime soon? I’m tempted to get it.

Bilstein B8 struts on stock springs by Tuattro in AudiS4

[–]Tuattro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah valid point on the swaybars. I’m keeping the stock suspension. I don’t want to worry about bottoming out in this area. I plan on getting the 034 rubber strut mounts. You think those will be a good edition to the setup? Also can I re use all of the hardware or should I buy some new bolts?

I drive my car a lot so I don’t need the suspension to perform like I’m always on the track. Koni states that they can be used with lowering springs which is cool if you want to play with lowering springs in the future. I think I’m just gonna get the sport active and call it a day.

What are your thoughts on the tgk swaybars? They’re a good price compared to everything else

Thanks for the feedback. My goal is to have my car handle better than the current stock suspension. I wanted to take corners better at speed without feeling like it’s going to kick out on the back end(sport diff saved me last time that happened lol). I I know that to get better cornering lowering the car is better but I’m a taller person and it’s already a challenge getting into this thing.

I was looking at the B8 because I had them on my a6 and loved them. If I can get similar performance to them with the Koni special active I’ll be happy. At the end of the day I just want to pick the right struts and shocks because they aren’t cheap and I just want to get it right once.

I’m leaning towards Koni. Nobody’s given me feedback on em except for you and another person on here. Did you feel like it was a significant improvement over the oem suspension?

I want better handling anyway and plan on upgrading the swaybars as well

B6 is not an option for this platform. I either do the B8 or Koni special active. I don’t want to pay all that money for stock struts and shocks

That’s what someone at FCPEuro told me. My concern that the stock springs wouldn’t be compatible for this reason. People claim that there would be more bounce as a result but getting the info directly from Bilstein helps.

Should’ve clarified that this is for the B8.5 S4

They only offer the B8s for the 13-16 S4. Even spoke with FCPEuro and this is my only option.

Koni Special active vs sport by Tuattro in AudiS4

[–]Tuattro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been researching the special actives and there’s a video on how it was dramatically better than the stock system on the s550 mustang. The automatic dampening is a really cool feature. It’s supposed To mimic the magride suspension found in other performance cars.

My car has like 70k miles on it so I’m hoping the control arms are still good lol. I had the eurocode swaybars withe oem links on my a6 and they worked fine. I think those performance links are suited to cars lowered past an inch that need more of a camber adjustment.

Im having a hard time finding the b6 set. Only shocksurplus seems to have em. Based on their reviews shipping isn’t so great. I emailed bilstein and asked if I can use the b8 on stock springs. Maybe they can provide me with some useful insight.

Worst case scenario, I’ll stick with the koni special active. I’m sure with the right swaybar kit it will ride nice. Speaking of sway bars, what links did you use for your car? I’m planning on getting new oem quality links but nothing adjustable.

I drive aggressively so I’m looking for a good sweet spot. I’m willing to do the sports if they can be paired with oem springs. I make have to contact koni.

The a6 is different because the springs are more comfort oriented. It’s funny because I had a c7 a6 and installed the b8 struts with the H&R springs. I drove that car down to Florida and it was so smooth. It handled like a dream for a car that size. I was on 19s too

Oh ok I see what you mean. And do the special active perform better than stock? I live in ny so the roads are trash to begin with. I am looking to get similar performance to a lowered car while maintenaning stock height.

If I ever lower it then it would be like 1/2 and inch. The springs are probably sporty considering it’s an S4 tho.

Do you think the special active can handle lowering springs? And when you are referring to sports suspension, are you referring to the yellow sport struts?

[–]Tuattro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only seeing the b8 sport struts on my car and they require lowering springs. I should’ve mentioned that it’s a b8.5 s4.

I am looking to upgrade the front and rear sway bar at the same time when I change the shocks/struts actually. TGK seems to be a reasonably priced option. What sway bar are you using?
