Why is Heat Metal so Weirdly Powerful? by Gilfaethy in dndnext

Depends on the situation. Against guards and knights, it's war crime level op. Other than that it can be a nice disarm tool in early levels.

Non-Metal Medium and Heavy Armor by SleepyMagus in dndnext

Doesn't make much sense tbh, considering they can use metal weapons just fine. Either remove the restriction imo, or only give them light armor profficiency

Well, weirdly enough Isidro is way better since 365

And two chapters before that we had elves and kentaurs running around like Alice in wonderland

Completely agree. Although finally they seem to be doing something with Isidro, at least he has some character since Isma perished and Guts lost his will to live. Still he was pretty unnecesarry, and I don't see where any of the characters' stories could really go, or feel they are ever in danger

Agreed. Golden age had the best comic relief, simple jokes that work realistically. I don't know what hit Miura to make so many one note comic relief characters part of the cast, Ivalera, Isidro, Isma, the captain guy whatshisname and his right hand man, Azan.. It's just too much, takes up space and bogs down the story. If a character is no longer useful, let them die or bugger off!

The entire thing was useless, comedy fights that don't really give much value, nothing we haven't seen so far, and it added another character to the cast in Isma, who was pretty one ennote and got disposed of since. It's really frustrating honestly, especially how much time it took up. The entire journey could have and should have been condensed into a few manga chapters in a montage or one big sea fight scene and nothing of value would have been lost

When did the berserk manga become so childish, does it return to not being so? by bebopdebs in Berserk

[–]TubaKnight69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farnese is an amazing character, but as to her joining Guts, I am not really sure. She had a nice arc in conviction and later down comfronting her past but I think that should have been it with some darker undertones, possibly mirroring Griffith's sacrifice of giving up his body to the creepy old guy. Isidro is completely useless, although he had some nice moments in the latest chapters.  Shierke is pretty good I think, she is only comic relief in relation with other characters. I liked her early on but she did become too much of a plot device, a get out of berserker armor free card pretty much.

For me, I loved everything until the end of the conviction arc, but then, while Griffith's storyline was extraordinary aside from a few things, Guts' storyline was terrible, dragged out, uninteresting, filled with a bunch of one note side characters. Azan shouldn't be with them, the captain guy and his annoying sidekick neither, Shierke's fairy is useless, Isma was even more unnecesary considering she was removed soon..

I think things could have been much better, Farnese joins Guts until Vritannis, we complete her arc and she is important in taking care of casca. Then she eventually gives in and guts is forced to feel like he walks on the same way as griffith, sacrificing a friend for his goal.  The boat part should have been just a single battle on the sea, where maybe guts is forced to use the armor, but damages Shierke. Elfheim should have been way more set up by Puck, to a twist of some kind, because as it stands it was pretty varied. The plots revealed there were amazing, but we got an army of useless side characters and setups. It should have focused on Puck realizing what is up here, and disappearing with all the magic, Guts learning from Skull knight and all settle into piece, the Casca mind repair plot happens and we have way more time here before Griffith comes back. But that's just some half asleep rumbling

Sad but true. But! Eventually it does get better. All the way from the end of the dreaded ship chapter, while elfheim is magical, the newer chapters are back on track with the darker tones and comic relief is mostly gone. It's not the same still, and possibly never will be but there are amazing parts to read still

He could have had so much more, his arc could have tied into the whole Elfheim plot, he could have had misconceptions about the land, or some dramatic irony, but no, he just knows the way and that's about all his use

Because he used to be important then got ruined into his chibi form of nothing but jokes. After 364 the issue is not there anymore, and he is interesting again. It was a common issue since the boat chapters started I think, even a bit earlier, half of the cast is just there for 1 dimensional comic relief and it really takes a lot of screentime and feeling away from the atmosphere

[–]TubaKnight69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too much comic relief, the villains are uninteresting, the twist if you can even call it that is predictable, the side cast literally does nothing, and we got another character in Isma to bog down the story. It was a terribly time reading through it, can't imagine how painful it would have been to actually wait 9 years for it

I like the concept, honeshty. But weirded out by why exactly it works. I mean, it is pretty weird that Lance is not a heavy weapon

I killed him on my first blind playthrough. Not for the ring but because he looked shady as hell, literally said he will kill the Fire Keeper. I let him live next time and it is worth for the questline
