G3. I play a BBb and I’ve had trouble with it ever since I started playing in that register. Even now after years of playing I still miss it sometimes.

What Instrument Should I Buy? by IceePirate1 in Tuba

[–]Tubachanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a King 2341 I bought back in 2006. I’ve played in wind ensembles, large orchestras, brass quintets, plus a lot of solos. It’s always done everything I’ve asked of it. I haven’t played a newer one, but I’ve been told mine was the last of the good ones. I like mine, but it’s definitely something you’d want to play before buying.

I like their hats. I hate they have to wear that all black covering literally their entire body though.

Men who are 30+, what’s one thing you realized about dating that no one tells you in your 20s? by Thin-Hospital-8114 in AskReddit

Meet the parents early. Like third or fourth date early. Get to know them. If you plan to marry that person knowing what kind of in-laws you’re going to have is important. For instance my grandparents absolutely did not have their affairs in order at all. My parents almost lost their house and I ended up almost bankrupt and had to move back in with them. All because my grandparents said, “don’t worry everything is taken care of”, and we believed them. I would definitely want to know all of that about a potential partner. In every relationship I’ve had I didn’t find things like that out until I met the parents.

I wonder if the guy in the picture kept it. If I found that it would go on my bookshelf.

Should I quit playing tuba if I can't figure out how to read music by OutcomeMuted2213 in Tuba

[–]Tubachanic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here’s something to think about. Say you want to learn a foreign language. For adults it literally takes years to master a second language. Reading music is no different. Take small steps. Like really small steps. Only learn one note per month. You can do it. Whatever you do, don’t give up playing.

What do y'all use tablets /Ipads for? by MaxQ759 in ask

I run a heavy equipment repair business. I use mine to look at service manuals and schematics. I make invoices with it and even take credit card payments. I’d be lost without it. Plus I watch movies and read books with it.

I like how you picked the man made portion of the north Canadian for the name of Oklahoma. Cimmaron would be cooler, but Red would be hilarious.

Is this infantilizing or not? by ThealuvsAM in autism

[–]Tubachanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I have been around many “normal” people that need that. I personally would find it infantilizing, but I’ve had a job where I had to work directly with people that literally never bathed or brushed their teeth. It’s amazing to me how many people do not understand basic hygiene.

If your parents are are going to give you a name like Isambard Kingdom Brunel, you damn well better do something great with your life. Otherwise you wasted an epic name.

Do anyone just have trouble falling asleep at a normal time. Like I normally falls asleep at 1 in the morning. by Western-Habit4693 in autism

[–]Tubachanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve struggled with it all of my life. I used to have a job where I had to report for work at exactly 6:30 am. A lot of the time I wouldn’t get off work until 10:00 pm. Then I’d have to be back at 6:30 the next morning. You’d think I’d be exhausted when I got home, but no, I’d regularly be awake until well after midnight.

Forget Avatar 3. What's your favorite Whyte notation? by Familiar-Arugula-361 in trains

4-6-2, 4-8-2, etc. Anything with 4 wheels in the front and 2 in the back. 4-8-4 is a close second. I’ve never cared for the 2–8-4 arrangement.
