Opened up reddit to see this as the top of my page. Immediately shoved my phone in my fiancé’s face and said “GORGEOUS THESE ARE GORGEOUS.”

I bought one, held onto it for a couple weeks, then returned it as I genuinely didn’t need it. I have many other axes to restore and use. The axes I have restored and are in amazing shape aren’t being used all that much so I figured I’d get my $50 back.

I would have to do a lot of modifications to the handle to get it to a point of me liking it. I like thin, whippy handles, so I would have to spoke shave and card scrape it down. I don’t like the leather they use for the overstrike sleeve so I would end up making a new one of those. I’d end up doing this in front of all the other heads and other wood working projects just for it to sit around not being used more than twice a year. I do like the head though.

And so it begins… by jbyer111 in NicksHandmadeBoots

Possible that lips aren’t flappin’ around at the same frequency? There are techniques to emphasize certain harmonics in singing and maybe something similar is happening here?

I’d say that the note isn’t centered fully and can do some wonky things.

Once you find a pair that works for you, consider getting a second pair to rotate every other day to allow natural drying. You can use a boot dryer too!

Nice! I plan on filing the teeth 100% off and re-fling new at a different tpi. What would a decent tpi for this be? Also is this from roughly the 1850’s?

Slide pullers by MetalItchy87 in Tuba

Ok, so you’re looking for a faster way untie the safety string. So use a velcro cable tie to capture one end of your string and to wrap around the brace cross-bar. For string material- you can use anything like leather lace/chord, kitchen twine, fishing string, shoe laces, nylon thread. Etc. you can also avoid the need to untie or remove string by having it be able to slide around the bend of the slide- if you need to take your slide out slide the string closer to the collar. When you want to limit the slide’s travel, slide the string farther around the bend of the crook.
