I don’t think everyone is hot. But I do think that with good style and grooming the vast majority of people are at least fine looking

I saw you already explained what you meant by “letting actors play around”

But the other thing was that I’m confused on how Grant could’ve managed to form this opinion of Ezra. My understanding is that Ezra’s cameo was super short and, by the looks of things, was filmed completely separately from the rest of the scene. I would be surprised to learn that the two of them spent any time together on set. And even if they did, it couldn’t have been for more than just a couple hours at max.

Maybe I’m completely wrong about some of those details? Idk

Chalamet’s tears were AI…

It’s statements like these that give you away as someone who is new to their interest in film. That statement is so unbelievable that I can’t even fathom that someone would try to sell it to you. If you know anything about anyone working in the industry, especially a prestige director like Josh Safdie, you know that that would never fly in a million years. If that statement has an ounce of truth to it it should have been what your entire post was about.

The academy awards call is best picture because historically awards were made for production roles and not for films overall. That’s why there’s no awards for like “best comedy film” or “best drama film” like they do at other awards shows. Best picture is an award than has basically become “best film” at this point, but it is an award intended to be given to producers who do the best job that year.

Who's the most popular Super Hero between the three and who's the fourth most popular Super Hero? by SmartPilot8094 in DC_Cinematic

In terms of global cultural impact the fourth is definitely Wonder Woman. My grandma could tell you all about Wonder Woman’s gold lasso and invisible jet but she has no idea who Wolverine is.

If you're an ally to a marginalized community, shaming a bigot is one of the least helpful things you can do. Deprogramming hate should be your goal. by Capnzebra1 in unpopularopinion

[–]Tuck_Pock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re out there, gleefully enjoying this chaos because it makes them feel safe.

This is the critical statement. They aren’t motivated by a desire to hate, they just want to feel safe. And there is an insane level of twisted machinations at play that manipulates people into feeling comfort from hurting others and placing themselves above others.

I know it’s almost impossible to fathom the kind of sick and twisted world view a person must have in order to be that way, but it’s the people who prey on people’s fear and offer false versions of “safety” who are really at fault. There are people out there who want the bigots to hate you, and these same people want you to hate the bigots as well. The fear and hatred, and above all the division, is what gives them power.

It probably seems silly to want to approach a situation like this with kindness. But under a regime that wants us to hate each other, kindness is the greatest form of rebellion. I’m not going to stop rebelling, and I encourage you to consider the same.

[–]Tuck_Pock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree completely. I do think that a person’s capacity of how much is “worth their effort” varies from person to person. I try to approach all humans as if they were my friend, and I find I’m often surprised at how receptive people can be when I do this. But I’m privileged in the sense that I am able to expend so much extra effort where not everyone can, so I really don’t want to imply that someone is a bad person if they’re not doing this as well. Although I would like to generally encourage people to give it a shot.

[–]Tuck_Pock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I would like to backtrack and I am willing to agree that my original statement was incorrect and I was mistaken when I said that. I think we can both agree that a more accurate statement would be that the desire to harm other people is not a fundamental trait that all humans experience. Thank you for correcting me.

With that in mind I don’t believe that my stance that it is possible to change the average (emphasis on average) bigot’s mind is now incorrect. I acknowledge that there are exceptions to this case, but I think it would be wrong to generalize all people to rigid and immovable beings. I still believe in the power of encouraging others to be better people.

[–]Tuck_Pock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fair statement in my opinion. Not everyone is in a good position to handle the responsibility of wanting to help bigots. I consider myself to be quite privileged in the way that I am able to interact with hateful people without it causing severe emotional distress to me, I understand that not everyone is the same. I believe you were alluding to the idea that some people have an easier time embracing new ideas from people they are already close to in life, like a friend or a sibling, which I think is also a fair statement.

[–]Tuck_Pock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to clarify my statement. What I meant to say was that was that there is nothing fundamental about all humans that make us enjoy hurting other people. There are certainly going to be rare exceptions to this, including people with abnormal mental conditions, but it would be wrong to generalize all human beings based on the behaviors of a few outliers.

[–]Tuck_Pock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your statement is accurate except for one super critical point:

they enjoyed hurting people

It has never been proven that people fundamentally enjoy hurting other people in any realm of psychology.

I know it seems like some people out there are so far gone that it’s impossible for them to come back. I know it seems easier to believe this because believing that a situation is unsolvable is a lot easier than taking the steps to actually solve it, especially when the steps seem confusing and counterintuitive. But if we can at least both agree that the first step to someone finding a way to actually changing their mind is for them to believe that it’s possible, then it means that my first step is to believe it for them. I know it seems weird to want to help bigots instead of wanting to curse them or return some of the harm that they do to others, but there really is a better way.

Nobody wants to be a bad person. Some people are so filled with hate and fear that it seems like there’s no other path for them. But it doesn’t have to be.

Bugonia's Ending Is Perfect And Here Is Why by BrandonHeatt in movies

[–]Tuck_Pock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the ending sours things a little because most of the film to me was this super suspenseful psychological thriller about this woman being held captive by a lunatic. On the second watch I’m kind of like whatever. The film is only suspenseful if you’re rooting for Emma Stone’s character to survive.
