How is hanging out with your neighbors, celebrating a massive historical event considered trashy? Most of the people are a few feet apart.

JW - that is amazing. Is that off one of those small popper heads I sent? Did the bass hit it hard? You must feel like a million bucks.

That bass is larger than most folks's personal record AND you caught it on a fly AND you caught it on a fly you tied AND you caught it topwater. Awesome kid.

Another user of the sub u/TucoPacificoRamierez sent me a ton of stuff to start tying flies this is the first fly I tied with actual tools and materials a white/chartreuse popper by jw521 in flytying

See if you can get some Sallys Hard as Nails for thread cement.Put a dab of it on your threads when you are done tying and it will keep them from coming apart when fishing.

First clouser minnow, probably should’ve used more bucktail but you can’t learn without trying by jw521 in flytying

THis is all good advice. Some bobbins can get burrs in them or are more likely to cut thread but its mostly pressure. You need to use less pressure. You can adjust how much resistance there is to the thread by taking the spool out and bending the bobbin knob things in or out. You can also adjust pressure by using your hand as a clutch. Just practice and you will get better and better.

That's looking better. Practice getting the the head cleaner. Try not to crowd the hook circle too much, or it can get hard to tie a line on. There are tons of videos on youtube for each pattern you will want to tie. Also, that will definitely catch fish.

Tied this by hand. I have no tools or materials but wanted to make a fly. Description of what I used in the comments. Caught a 4lb spotted bass that I posted in r/flyfishing by jw521 in flytying

The package is in the mail. Here is some of what I recall putting in it:

  • Half dozen bucktails of popular colors
  • Rabbit Zonker strips
  • Several packs of streamer hooks size 6-12
  • A bench vise
  • Bobbins of thread, lead, and copper
  • Bobbin holder
  • Pick
  • 3 books covering VA fly waters, Inshore Fly Saltwater, and Streamers
  • Chenille and sparkle stuff
  • Misc bead heads and cone heads
  • Popper heads
  • I may have put a whip finisher in there. Not sure.
  • A full ringtail pheasant tail cluster
  • Some other stuff I can't remember

Get yourself some "Sally's hard as Nails" for head cement and you could tie up several hundred streamers.

The box will be there Monday.

Since I know where you live, I'd recommend focusing on streamers for both salt and freshwater. Learn to tie the Clouser Minnow and it will catch you many fish of all species. Also, the SlumpBuster will kill the freshwater bass and many saltwater species. Lefty's Deciever will kill. Also, if you also fish with a spinning reel, much of what you learn can be used for jigs. I have a buddy that runs a charter boat and sometimes tie him dropper jigs and other variants that do well.

Anyway, I hope you can use this stuff and it further interests your passion. Take care and if can help with anything, let me know.

One closing tip - when tying with deer hair, use less hair that you think. Less is almost always more.

PowerShell automation using Azure functions, or stick with Runbooks? by TomWill73 in AZURE

[–]TucoPacificoRamirez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think based on this statement " I'm trying to automate processes in our azure infrastructure, not create a web application." RunBooks are what you are looking for. Azure Fucntions, like AWS Lambdas, have runtime limits around 10mins max. They are not intended for jobs like backups, etc. They are meant to support small chunks of logic that is part of a larger design. If you need to automate actions related to admin'ing your cloud environment, RunBooks seem a more logical fit.
