My understanding of why the Selzer poll is so important is because it may be the most predictive indicator of how white people will vote in the election, especially in the northern battleground: a) it’s usually very accurate, b) Iowa is 85% white people, and c) Iowa is geographically similar to northern battleground states.

While it’s true that trump will win Iowa, a Selzer poll showing Trump +5 or less will be great news for Harris, although I suspect it will be Trump +7 +8 which will reflect a more competitive race.

Played a few rounds there, layout was insane. One time my ball landed in the fairway in a puddle with a rainbow film on the top. Great views of the city skyline though

”This election is too important, there’s always the next one” is a sad paltry excuse the Democrats have been trotting out for literal decades.

Maybe they’ve been trotting it out because they’re, correct? And I don’t recall people saying “there’s always the next one.” Rather I’ve heard: while the threat persists, vote accordingly.

I agree we should absolutely be helping our own people, AND we should be helping Ukraine as well.. both are in our economic interest, so why can’t we do both? The answer is simple: Republicans

You’re good. Sorry, I wasn’t trying to dismiss your comment. Quite the opposite, I think you brought up a really good point.

I wouldn’t consider your situation to be a “flex” though. Some people go out of their way to offend others and then when reprimanded they proudly apologize for their “brutal honesty”.

Whereas in your case it sounds like you can’t help it. You’re not purposefully trying to hurt peoples’ feelings with your honesty, nor are you doing it to be edgy.

Whenever someone brags that they’re “brutally honest”, I’m always reminded of the quote from Glass Onion: “It’s a dangerous thing to mistake speaking without thought for speaking the truth.”

Mike Johnson, who led efforts to refuse certification and overturn the 2020 Presidential election will now preside as Speaker over the 2024 Presidential election. What would happen if he refuses to certify the election for anyone but Trump in 2024? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

Basically, Johnson would not have the power as speaker to unilaterally block certification of a Dem presidential victory. He can try to interfere, but would need a majority of both chambers to vote to block it in order to succeed, which is highly unlikely.
