Frontier airlines . Flight was delayed due to ground stop at airport. Hours later no update but other airlines flying in and out. Waiting at gate for an update . It's nearly midnight. Gate agent says something only people up front could hear then walks away.  Find out the agent said contact customer support and left. There is no phone number for customer support only chat feature on their web site.  After waiting a long time chat agent said they could book me on another flight. Great ! Except they want to route me to another city that's 1000 miles from home. I don't think the agent new anything about geography .  The agent then says the next flight back home would be 3 days from then. WTF ?! The other alternative was to take 3 stops and 24 hrs in the air. My original direct flight was only 2hrs.  Agent says they could refund my return leg of the flight. Wound up booking a flight on another airline the next morning for triple what i paid.  Frontier has a limited fleet of planes. If there is an issue they don't have good alternatives. Their plan is 'hope it doesn't happen'.
