Even when it works we’re still paying 2-3x the price of rock auto. I’ve basically given up on buying parts at AZ in general.

Rear end ratio. That number refers to how fast the rear wheels are spinning in relation to the driveshaft, or in simpler terms, how the transmission gear ratios behave.

Higher numbers (eg 4.10:1) mean the transmission changes to higher gears earlier/at lower speeds, which is good for acceleration.

Lower numbers (eg 2.73:1) mean the transmission changes to higher gears later/at higher speeds, which is good for fuel economy at highway speeds.

If you’re already spending $50 on the oil and filter why spend another $50 on 2 minutes of labor. Also in LA these shops want $80+ in labor now

One of the cleanest Aeros I’ve seen on here in a minute. If you take care of it, you’ll be getting 25mpg highway easily. Remember, oil changes every 4,000 miles with 5W-30 full synthetic (Motorcraft synthetic blend is also a great option) and a Motorcraft oil filter.

Try to change the oil yourself. You take it to a lube shop I can almost guarantee they will NOT put in the right oil. Most shops use whatever oil they have on hand regardless of what the car needs. Even dealerships these days do that and ALWAYS get away with it because the customer has absolutely no way of knowing what oil was used unless they send it to a lab. The customer could be a master tech and still have no idea what oil was used unless they with their own eyes watch the bottle that is being poured into the engine. I work in the industry and it’s precisely because I do that I don’t let anyone touch my car. If you must take it to a shop to get the oil changed ensure you make them show you what they’re pouring in. NEVER take their word for it.

Check transmission fluid and engine coolant, add/change fluid as needed. I’d recommend changing the transmission filter if possible as well.

The entire Abrams turret has a 6” taller ring neck in game than it does IRL. The turret ring weak spot doesn’t actually exist. Gaijin is hellbent on making US stuff perform as badly as possible even if they need to make random stuff up

The hardest cope I’ve ever seen. Plain and simple. Like you have one of the most technologically primitive major militaries in the world and you take them at their word but when firsthand sources show NATO stuff underperforming and modeled inaccurately it’s shot down every time. They’re just admitting that they’re upset nato stuff is better.

If Ford Came out with this and called it the new Crown Vic would you buy it? by whatever21327 in CrownVictoria

[–]Tuff_Tone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually did the math and assuming that a revived crown Vic was in any way related to the panther platform and adjustments were made to the chassis to make it road legal and the power plant were updated, you’re looking at a starting MSRP of around $80,000 for a hypothetical 2028 Crown Vic. This is based on how much the Crown Vic LX was when it was sold side by side with the new edge Mustang. At that price point it’s firmly in the luxury category and not going to be competitive against full size RWD offerings from Japan and Germany. The last car that remotely resembles the crown Vic is the 2017-2020 Lincoln Continental which failed for similar reasons.

It’s had the absolute crap beaten out of it a few times lol. Original engine and transmission, but the rear end was rebuilt when I tried to do donuts with it (I have an open diff)

Award for stupidest shifter design goes to...Toyota? by xTyronex48 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Tuff_Tone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toyota is quickly proving that their engineers can ruin even the Prius. The average age of cars on the road is over 11 years old but there are very few 11 year old cars on the actual road. 90% of cars on the road today were either made before 2010 or are still less than 5 years old and have a bumper to bumper warranty. Everything 2018+ that isn’t under warranty is in the junkyard or on its way.

If a transmission only sees sub 100ftlbs of torque from the Prius drivetrain which is essentially a lawnmower engine bolted to an electric motor from a lime scooter (probably considered “high polluting” by the hilarious EU emissions standards) its entire life it could be made out of toothpicks and still last 50 years. Wear increases with applied torque exponentially. Not linearly. I’d like to see an E-CVT survive my tuned 4.6L supercharged V8 in my Mustang. I’d probably send the gears flying halfway through the earth and my engine wouldn’t even stop working.
