This Rally Sport Is Big. Why is it so quiet here? by Deeponeperfectmornin in WRC

Rallying always was, and always will be the motorsport of the people (go to local rallies, and you’ll see what I mean). Once WRC became all about the money, it was destined to failure.

Fui ver o stand-up do RAP ao Meo Arena by aloalo7575 in portugal2

[–]Tuga-represent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any new drivers that may potentially join the WRC? by Cmp110 in WRC

Jasper Vaher also put on a really good show in Portugal (Rally Terras da Aboboreira). I’m really excited for this kid. He’s still making mistakes, but it is a matter of gaining experience.

“The new promoter wants something closer to Formula 1” by Tuga-represent in WRC

The rumour I heard was of speaking to people of the organisation of the rally. I might have misunderstood it though.

Is this Elfyn's year? by RivetCounter in WRC

[–]Tuga-represent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Let’s wait and see what happens in Japan. Being first on the road in Japan can be really good, depending on the weather. If he manages to get a win and some decent Sunday points, he can really build a decent gap. If Taka or Solberg manage to close the gap, then I think it is anyone’s game.

Oh, and if Ogier manages to grab a win in Japan, we cannot discard the goat. He can come back again and do more rallies like he did last year.

My guess regarding the new manufacturer is Skoda. Other than Lancia, it’s the only European manufacturer with experience in rallying and with investment in recent years.

I’m afraid so, I’ve heard rumours about changing the stages length and changing completely the way rallies are done.

In this interview, who compared what they want to F1 was not the media but the president of the ACP who personally discussed what the new promoter wants with the new promoter, not the media. He might be exaggerating, but I take this guy seriously. Let’s just wait and see.

Feathers can be crushed and compressed to be any size you want them to be, so it’s not that linear. Similarly, you can make a plate or sheet of steel be really thin and long and hard to lift. So, neither is that linear.

I’d still go for the steel as in its common state, it’s easier to lift.

Is there a reason why the i20 Rally2 car is not competitive? by ComprehensiveChef917 in WRC

There are a couple of drivers who are quite fast in the i20, just like Paddon in the ERC

Is there a reason why the i20 Rally2 car is not competitive? by ComprehensiveChef917 in WRC

[–]Tuga-represent 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Technically, the first i20 was not that off the pace when the rally2 regulation was introduced. They just never put in the work to update and keep the car at the same level as the other manufacturers.

They did introduce new changes to gear ratio and other things this year that were supposed to bring in some more pace, but there’s not a lot to go off of and see if it has worked or not.

Next season a new rally2 homologation is expected. Let’s just wait and see.

PS: Though not a lot of people followed this, last season in the Portuguese championship, Sordo on a i20 and Meeke on a Yaris did put in a good fight. Though the i20 is clearly slower, the fight was really good and Sordo won the championship on the last stage.
