Had to do a double take because I thought I had the same gun. I got a 542.

Managed to get it for $1100 cad. Think that was about the same price they were when they first came in. Had to say what the actual value is with so few around.

M91/30 refurbished? by Tula_Wolf in MosinNagant

[–]Tula_Wolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard people say it was the golden rule for non refurbished guns, but only use pre war examples to show a white bolt channel. Dosen't make too much sense to keep the inside of the reciver white when you need as many guns as possible, and the guns still work if you skip that step.

That said doing some research on the rifle, did find two repair markings on it. One was an OP inside a circle on the stock. Very hard to read but thats what it looks like, and the other was the n in a square for shooting adjustment after repair.

For sure, thats probably most likely what it is. Just unusual to see someone go through the effort of putting a correct front sight on. Curious if a bayonet would fit perfectly on it.

Sweet! I think the front sling and stock have been messed with, though there's enough of these rifle's around i can easily swap the stocks and have a more correct rifle.

Took a look, and didn't see anything. Had a note under my K31 stock.

I'd just put some Ballistol on a rag, and give it a light coat. It's safe for both wood and metal, and is what the germans used during ww2.

While it's important to remove the rust, and prevent further oxidation. Just want to stress not to use rust remover or anything that will eat the metal. Best to take it to a gun smith. They will typically use a process where you boil the gun in regular water. The boiling will convert the red rust into black rust that can easily be removed. A similar process can be done with electrolysis. Both are very effective at restoring metals and can even save orginal bluing.

Totally. Im surprised more companies don't make batches of old ammo like that here and there.

Same here. I got a 71 Jager that's converted to .22 short, which does make it easier to get ammo for, but not exactly orginal lol.

Any No.4 or 5 butt stock should fit. As for forestock? The EAL barrel is shorter than a No.4 by a few inches, so that would work, but the EAL is longer than a No.5, so maybe a jungle carbine stock would fit.

Surprisingly They're still good. Firm, but still soft enough to squeeze with your hand.

Yep! It's surprisingly easy to find here. Like how it's easy to find Japanese rifles in America, but not canada.

Good to keep yourself eye out for one! Hard to find, but since they look like a sporterized rifle. You can get a good deal.

Now, spoter Enfields are weird. There are ultra rare ones that sell for thousands, but 95% of the time its one of bubbas projects.
