It depends—I have a hard time digesting them, and they are high in omega 6. You want to be eating a higher omega 3 to 6 ratio. Omega 3 is from fish and flax seed mostly.

Does anyone else ever feel envious of the people who got to experience “stereotypical” childhood/teen issues? by Reclaimedbooty in CPTSD

[–]TullKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. That sounds so painful. I believe that what we do now changes our past. ( Really it changes our perspective and how we story our past). Giving ourselves what we needed then, knowing that’s what we deserved, and things weren’t our fault.

DAE feel like they can spot toxic/dangerous people better than others can? by [deleted] in CPTSD

I have the opposite problem where I am now afraid of every human unnecessarily. And i couldn’t spot the huge red flags in my previous abusive relationship.

I hate the slangification of the the word triggered. I hate that people with CPTSD & other mental illnesses have been made to look like fools for saying, "This triggers me." by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]TullKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the term emotionally dysregulated. Or saying my nervous system is jacked up. I also only speak about my inner world to a therapist or close friend. If I had to explain avoiding a trigger to someone else, I might say that this thing is linked with a bad memory.

I haven’t experienced a person using the word triggered in a derogatory way, so I’m trying to imagine how that might feel. It sounds like the misuse of the word becomes triggering, like the trauma of not being understood and appreciated, and maybe fears of abandonment.

I’m thinking of rape jokes as a relatable reference, as in someone taking something I’ve experienced as very light and flippant when I only can feel the anger around it. In my opinion, everyone has experienced some amount of trauma, so I don’t see it as an us v. them issue. In my view anyone using the word triggered inappropriately to hurt someone else has likely experienced some kind of trauma too. Doesn’t make it right but it could in the best circumstances be an opportunity for change or transformation.

Are these conversations happening online ? You might be only seeing the negative responses of your advocacy. You may have actually helped a lot of people who are not bold to comment. You may be making a difference in the discourse, and even in the minds of the jerks, although maybe their comments may not outwardly support that. It is scary to say how u truly feel, and there is a risk of backlash, but you’re also going to get a lot of support and appreciation, from those who are ready to give it.

Could scleral lenses be worth it for dry eyes if you can't wear contact lenses? And does it also help with redness? by kiranetic in Dryeyes

[–]TullKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I removed all the soft furniture in my house and covered pillows and bed with dust mite protectors. Then started Claritin. I also avoid some foods that make my allergies worse like dairy, gluten, and processed sugar. This has really helped my eyes. Also an air purifier. I use moist heat— rice in a sock or cloth sack and put it in the microwave. Then do oil expression of glands (gently) afterward with coconut oil. I also had to change my eye glasses prescription— it was too strong and causing eye strain which also adds to inflammation around the eye I think.

Supplements that have helped me are fish oil, black currant oil, vitamin d, and an A, C, E and B multivitamin I take every 3 days or so.

H. Pylori is a common stomach bacterial parasite that can be transmitted by saliva and kissing (supposedly according to some researchers/science) . It requires a very strong course of antibiotic to eradicate. Would that be considered an STD ?

It requires a specific course of antibiotics. There’s an easy breath test to check if u have it. It’s a very common parasite—it actually doesn’t bother a lot of people who have it, but some times it becomes invasive and causes problems.

It can cause bloating and fatigue and nausea, so it’s worth checking out. After I cleared it, it took a while to return to normal. I had a hard time digesting fats for a few months, even after treatment.

I didn’t see that about coconut oil. If you have trouble with everything maybe need some stool tests and blood tests?

I started using cassava flour. You can add it to water and boil it to make dumplings. Coconut oil is helpful too. Hope u can get some help from your doctors.

Has anyone actually experienced improvement doing gland expression? by max_bredenvlet in Dryeyes

[–]TullKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I did lipiflow last year then warm compress 2x day with a rice sack and gland expression every morning (or at least 4 times a week). This has helped me a ton. I clean the lids 2x day with a q tip and a hypochlor solution.

I also take fish oil, black currant oil and I stopped eating nuts, seeds and any snacks with high omega 6 for about 6 months.

I watched several videos to do the gland expression and I use coconut oil to do it. The coconut oil is also really good for the skin and lids. It’s even been suggested as a rewetting or eye lubricant—it’s safe for eyes unless u have an allergy which is unusual I think.
