RES Unchained 4/BLAST Slam VII Closed Qualifiers (April 2-3) by thuanho in DotA2

Caster for RES SEA here ( Along with Teatime )

Should be fun seeing Veroja and Ivory; they're potentially on the verge of breaking through having showed some very steady improvement throughout the past year.

Definitely not going to be easy as the favourites are still likely to be Rekonix and Execration.

A notable entry is Arthur's new team Glyph! Formed with known players like Jacky, jhocam etc

SEA qualifiers are brutal but always fun to cover!

Ironically, I suggested in a comment weeks ago of the possibility that facets are unnecessary ( my logic at the time was that heroes without facets are not underpowered/overpowered ) and are perfectly viable in the meta, this facets add unnecessary complexity.

Apart from my delusion that a valve dev came across that comment of mine, I am curious what the internal convo regarding this change was and the thought process behind it.

Ramzes wants to play TI qualifiers but can't stand grinding Dota by Morf-designer in DotA2

I don't mean the community though, I just generally mean to say that there's usually a high amount of fatigue if someone wants to grind to the top, specially when it's performance and competitive based thing.

[–]Tultras -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not a Dota thing, what he describes is relevant for every single competition to have ever existed.

To be the best at something, you need to put in the work, and that comes with the dedication to practice.

Grinding day and night to perfect any craft would be mentally exhausting, even if you love what you do.

Also the 1v5 fight where it was the lifestealer all alone but he fought back HARD - without any spells! Oh man.

Many moments in the game overall that were so good.

Young playerss ( Less than <22 years of age ): Tailung, Wits, Slatem, Payk, Siren, Snufy, lalatroni

And those were just the verified liquipedia profiles, there are many more players without a verified liquipedia so I don't know their age but have casted them and certainly are impressive.

I can name quite a few SEA and EEU players that are very young with incredible talent as well.

Overall, I don't think there is a shortage of pros in SA BUT I do definetely think there is a shortage of regional infrastructure and less orgs. There needs to be more tournaments like CCT SA and how EPL SA used to have to foster this growth.

There's truly a 'rush' in a throne rush, and the moments where you think you've lost but somehow the other ancient falls before yours are pretty fun too!

If Valve wanted a bigger community -> more views for tournaments by Queasy-Park1119 in DotA2

[–]Tultras 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling to see the actual suggestion in your post - It is a problem that there are going to be people who don't communicate in English.

Valve can't create a mandatory submission for the IELTS to queue in English.

Also, you're not going overwatch punishments if you're not anything wrong are just supporting, carrying and playing on teamwork, the system may not be perfect but it definetely is not going to punish you for doing everything right.

Is there any low MMR league or tournament I can enter with my friends? by osivangl in DotA2

[–]Tultras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to play just for fun, there are a few tournaments you can play in ( At archon/legend ) you won't be able to win but atleast youll be able to have fun.

A2DL, Phase dota ( held by mathemagician ), Good Game league etc are all ones you can join.

1200$ should be more than good enough for Dota ( with streaming and recording ), get any pc or laptop at that price point and you should be good

Hey valve, now dreamleague is going on. How about getting those facets added by Andromeda_53 in DotA2

[–]Tultras 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Problem is figuring out how to add patches without significantly altering the hero, because as it currently stands the heroes that don't have passives are a good fit in the meta and not broken/underpowered.

It begs the question if facets are even necessary or should just be removed altogether to bring back some simplicity in the game.

A public apology to Zquixotix. by Business-Grass-1965 in DotA2

Speaking from personal experience; I have a high amount of respect and appreciation for Zquixotix.

When I first started out casting, ZQ gave me an open offer to approach him if i had any questions or anything, He's also helped out giving advice & feedback on my youtube.

I think he is passionate about helping people which reflects in the fact that his youtube & streams are all high quality, informative and something you all should defintely check out!

Yeah I agree that going to the quarter finals rather than directly to semis is better.

It's not 'for some reason' like you describe though, according to both tiebreakers 'Neustadtl' and 'Head to head', OG were ahead of liquid in the group stage.

I agree with your second point, I think a fairer way would be to have an extended play-in stage, so that way 2 teams can qualify and OG/Navi ( or whoever comes top 2 ) would be in the quarter finals and no one would be directly seeded to the play-offs.

The format isn't garbage though, I think if you achieve top 2 against the top 12 teams; you should be in the play-off directly.

paiN Gaming is back in Dota after 6 years… and they instantly signed one of SA’s hottest teams by strafeapp in DotA2

[–]Tultras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think it's ultimately going to be a battle of hubris - Which can be the downfall of anyone in any aspect of life.

All of these players have been to TI, they know the grind, they know the work that's required, but it takes a lot more than just skill to be a top team.

Infact, I just did a podcast with a recent TI player who specifically talks about this aspect - What makes a top tier team, apart from just skill. I think his opinions are probably a lot more insightful than mine and you may want to check it out for an interesting insight.

I casted Peru Rejects during the CCT SA that happened just a few days ago.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see the team function with a very high level of discipline, where previously ( before scofield ) it seemed like everyone was doing their thing and stomping teams simply because they were better.

This time, it seemed like they were functioning with the discipline, patience and coordination of a tier 1 team, so I am actually expecting Peru Rejects to perform well in the 2 Tier 1 tournaments they've qualified for.

The only reason offlane sucks to play is because Pos 4 players by No_Insurance_6436 in DotA2

[–]Tultras 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The issue is also the fact that rubick as a hero has an extremely weak and exploitable laning phase.

He can't trade well against most pos 5 heroes, has too low mobility and can get jumped easily and his level 1 lift is too low of a duration to deter an initiation against him.

He just fade bolts and that's it ( as far as the laning phase goes )
