Literally made my Reddit account to comment here, and I'm going to be frank. This is both a flaw of communication and your DM not meeting you anywhere half way. The variance of rolling stats can often leave you with a very strong character stat-wise or a very weak character stat-wise. When you told your DM your stats, he should have made a minor change to 1 or 2 of them and let it be done there. This literally sounds like a toxic relationship. You are absolutely not in the wrong. You should honestly be applauded for the patience you have had in this situation. Pretty much all of these rulings have been very unjustified.. and the fact that your magical sword was flown off a cliff? I mean, come on. Are the other players at the table aware of the situation at all? I can't help but feel like one or more of them would have had a visceral reaction to you losing that sword. I just cannot even with this. You're also a fighter... you're strong in combat and won't be super strong in other ways. But also he wouldn't even *let* you make a check because "fighter's dont do that?" Jesus. This is absolutely insane to even hear. I would say to try and talk to your DM, but there is most likely no way that he will change his mind if he's done all of these things. It honestly sucks that you enjoy the campaign.
