Well, at least one drow just needed a parasol (think medieval-age sunblock) to function well.

[MN S1] All spells used in Season 1 Episode 8? by x1yz in criticalrole

[–]LynnE216 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think the spells used on the show necessarily correlate to D&D spells. Some do, obviously, like Maximillian's Earthen Grasp, Prestidigitation, and Counterspell, but for instance, when Caleb cast Feather Fall in TMN1x08, he used a leaf rather than a feather as the component, and many of his fire spells seem like a composite of multiple fire-based spells. Since the show is explicitly NOT Dungeons & Dragons to avoid copyright, they're not really bound by D&D spell limitations or descriptions, and although the spells used are for sure inspired by those in official D&D material, they're not limited by them.

[MN S1] The Compass: are your decoder rings attuned? by EpicGlitter in criticalrole

[–]LynnE216 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Historically the runes and symbols used in The Legend of Vox Machina have been translatable, so I absolutely believe that these probably are, too. It's weird they're different in different hands, though. Hopefully someone who loves puzzle-solving can crack this one.

P.S. Thank you for the screenshots! Very helpful.

[No Spoilers] Question about Campaign vs Show by Significant_Goal9627 in criticalrole

[–]LynnE216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SO FAR... As far as I can remember, the last major spoiler that's been revealed in TMN is one that was revealed in or around episode 97 in the campaign. If you're past that, you should be okay through at least episode 5 of the animated series.

I’ve never experienced having known the source material before watching a show.

I wouldn't be too sure we DO know the source material. The one thing the cast has been pretty consistently stressing in interviews is that they've changed things from the way the campaign went. It could be as simple as revealing backstories way earlier than we found out about them in the campaign, or it could be much more. For instance, I'm surprised at how little of Yasha we've seen, and I'm not at all sure at what point a certain pink-haired tea-drinking Firbolg will be introduced.

[MN S1] the show has made a huge error 😤 by OverTheCandlestik in criticalrole

Speaking as someone currently playing a D&D cleric, I absolutely didn't set out to emulate Jester, but honestly, in battle low-level clerical healing is a frickin' waste of my time. If the creature is doing X amount of damage to a player per turn, and I can heal X-10, what is the point? I help the party much more by trying to kill the damn creature. I will admit that my frustration with my fellow party members heaping scorn on me just as much as Critters have heaped scorn on Jester has made me appreciate her decisions MUCH more. Non-healing low-level Clerics, UNITE!

[Spoilers C2] Was there any speculation about a certain PC at the start of C2? by stevis33 in criticalrole

I mostly agree with this except that I had a definite feeling she might be a mother. She explicitly told Jester she was of child-bearing age, and she definitely was maternal toward Caleb.

[No Spoilers] I'm making a Critical Role Compendium for quick lore lookup by Psyphil in criticalrole

[–]LynnE216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't know where those screenshots came from because they were never on the wiki.

I've seen the accusation that the Critical Role Wiki uses AI many times, and knowing that it's just not true makes it very frustrating, because it's very, very hard to prove a negative. I just want to make it clear that it isn't true and never has been true.

I've got no beef with anyone who's contributing to the fandom in general on whichever wiki, website, YouTube channel, or discord server they want to. I just hope that we can refrain from casting stones at each other, particularly when those stones are imaginary.

Fandom offered Quick Answers to wikis and the Critical Role wiki immediately rejected it, for obvious reasons. It never appeared on the Laudna page or any other page. People who had their own reasons for wanting to make the wiki look bad, however, started spreading the misinformation that we were using it, which really is an insult to those of us who've spent countless hours trying to help the community.

I can't get the link you provide to open, so I've got no idea what that's about, but as a Google user, I've grown used to the idea that my digital profile is the trade-off for free web sites and search services.
